Hopefully we don't take Pattinson to the T20 World Cup. He's a fantastic long-form bowler who can take wickets for fun, but he's always liable to get hit around.

And once he gets hit once, he gets hit again. Given Cummins & Lee are all but guaranteed the trip, it would probably be beneficial to pick McKay and McDermott - two 'steady' fast bowlers - alongside them.

And Hoggy, of course.

What will be NSW starting XI next season?

Maddinson
Cruickshank
Smith
Rohrer
Patterson
Henriques
Nevill (+)
O'Keefe (c)
Copeland
Bollinger
Hazlewood

2XI could look something like this:

Hughes
Henry
Dawson (c, +)
Abbott
Lalor
Bills
Zampa
Doran
Tremain
Sandhu
Conway

Plenty of bowling option there with no fewer than 6 seamers and 2 spinners! Where is the batting?

Do NSW really need 16 bowlers in their squad?

Sounds about right. Looks a great test prospect but not a shorter game man yet. Leave that to a few specialists/older heads.

Enough cricket to play without him risking injury in the hit and giggle cup anyway.
