It's been raining in Cardiff all day and is predicted to continue until midnight.

Why hasn't the game been called off yet?

KP setting himself up to bat through the innings, and then he manages to bottom edge a long hop off Malan. Good platform set by him and Davies though. Roy continuing the good work, makes all the difference when you come in with runs on the board.

Prior must be in a hurry 39 off 13, may be on for a fastest half century.

48 off 17, what is the fastest, thought I remember it being 21 balls.

50 off 21, great hitting.

Carnage 100 off 7 overs.

Wilkin seems to be something of a secret weapon - a number 9 batsman who wasn't one of the eight bowlers used. 12 needed now.

Got 3 wickets yesterday, bit of a surprise he didn't bowl today. Good all-round cricketer though. Gave my clubs opening bowlers some tap earlier this season.

Rain not doing Durham any favours yet again. Seems to have been arriving all season whenever a win is a probable result. Will need it to stay away to have a hope of staying in the T20.

Good finish on the cards at the Oval - Middx 122-7 chasing 155.
Strange finish, with Wilkin and Raynor almost getting them over the line before two wickets in the final over made it closer than it should have been.

It was a decent evening for our annual 2020 visit. Firstly we were lucky to have a game to see given the weather elsewhere. Beyond that it was a much better match than I expected after the recent form and events. KP and Davies seemed intent on doing enough to ensure a respectable score rather than going for broke in trying to reach 180+ and ending up with the side all out for 120. You couldn't fault them too much for that given what's left of our batting at the moment, even if KP did slow up badly and his eventual dismissal was pretty soft..Roy showed glimpses of his old self, which made for some entertaining viewing.

When Middlesex batted, Surrey's expensive imports seemed intent on competing to see who could send down the most abject crap with the ball. Karthik seemed to have that particular award sewn up with his first over but Nannes ran him very close with his. At that stage, with Middlesex 50 for none after 3 overs, you figured they win it with plenty to spare. Instead they contrived to lose wickets regularly, including the key one of Dexter who obligingly pulled a slow long hop from De Bruyn to mid-wicket. After that contribution Surrey looked set to win until De Bruyn sent down an over that was even worse than the tripe we saw earlier from Karthik and Nannes. Odd cricketer, de Bruyn. Apparently he's 37 now, which surprised me as I'd thought him to be a kid when he played for SA against us in 2004-05. Clearly not. Nowadays his bowling involves charging in from half way to the boundary before sending down some trundles that he would probably beat to the keeper if he kept on running. Clearly Surrey fancy him, but I have no idea why. Anyway, that got Middlesex close enough to scamper home, even with the two scares in the final over.

Enjoyable game, although you do wonder what the players make of playing before crowds who palpably have minimal interest in the game in front of them.
