I was told that by a geography teacher.

Interesting that July/August are so much wetter than June though - could be something in that St Swithins business. ;)

Also interesting to note that April is the driest month. Maybe it was actually a very good idea to start it in early April this year?

First time I've seen the Monte Carlo fallacy applied to weather, I must say.
The last time we had an April/May/June run anywhere near this wet was 1782, with 337mm as opposed to 358mm this time around.

The July/August/September that followed contained 411mm of rain, the fourth-wettest on record.

I still think D/L sucks for T20. 180 off 20 down to 49 off 5? That's such a big advantage IMO. With all wickets in hand etc...

I think it works well in ODI's, but I think for T20 it's outdated and hasn't caught up with how quickly people can score nowadays.
It's more evidence against that bizarre ICC decision to reject Jayadevan out of hand.

We could all tell this was not a valid reduction.

Thank gawd that is no predictor of this year. :-O

What we need is the Azores high to extend over us as it always used to in summer. For too long it's been anchored out in the central Atlantic and not budged much.

I hope it isn't a symptom of a warming planet.

What we need is for the jet stream to bugger off North and let the high pressure up... and what we need for that is some solar activity.

Nothing to do with global warming, and certainly not any of this positive feedback crap the IPCC keep spouting. Everything to do with Maunder/Dalton minima. Humans are far too insignificant to throw out a chaotic system that has been going through wild cycles since well before our grandfathers crawled out of the sea.

Standard GW-skeptic rhetoric. There is general acceptance in scientific circles that human-influenced warming is occurring, even most of the skeptics now agree that industrial activity has led to a warming of the planet.

most gw skeptics are libertarians anyway so just call them the filthy libertarian they are imo

Tremlett bowled well and looked fit tonight, looks to have lost a bit of muscle as well during his recovery.

KP gone for single figures again, looked like it was going down leg to me buy a bit, jagged back at him. Then Roy gets bowled behind his legs, really strange.

I wonder if he's starting to think retiring from one day cricket wasn't one of his best ideas, said it loads of times about him but he's far better when he plays a lot and keeps in rhythm. In such brilliant touch before this break, could do with a few runs in the 4 day game before we play SA.

Again Surrey in the **** 18-4, nothing going right for them in the batting stakes.
Indeed. We weren't exactly ripping it up anyway, but the death of Maynard seems to have completely knocked the stuffing out of the side. RHB is on indefinite compassionate leave, and the others seem out of it. It would be nice if KP could get his arse into gear, but that isn't really his way at county level.

I'm going to the Oval tomorrow. Don't see it being a barrel of laughs.

Yes I feel for Surrey must be very hard.

Thought KP looked well up for it today, watching him around the field, he took a blinder of a catch early on, tbf to him though not the best decision by the umpire, ball jagged back and looked like it would have missed leg.

Fair enough. Perhaps de Bruyn will wake up before the innings is over and score at something more than the 68% he's managed in his 22 deliveries to date. Ah fek it, he's run out now. Good innings mate.

The one remotely encouraging thing is we're actually playing three kids in the top 5. Whether Roy, Burns or Ansari will amount to anything remains to be seen, but it's an improvement after 15 years of not producing a single home-grown talent.
