The great Adam Goodes with a 7 disposal match.

Top tier.
Put the team on his back in his last game and they probably only lost because he got injured for the first time 100 years though.

Pretty dumb debate since the whole thing depends on what you consider great. If Ablett is the only "great" from the recent Geelong teams, then maybe Goodes doesn't qualify. There's plenty of other players in those Geelong teams that fans and fellow players might describe as "great" though, your Scarlett's, Bartel's etc, in which case Goodes probably makes the cut. Doesn't even have much to do with a personal evaluation of how good he is.

Honestly really lame of you to talk about Goodes' game Benchy. And what's **** is I knew you'd do it.

Coming back from his injury and obviously not match fit at all.

It's not just tonight's game though, he does it all the time, but people get blinded but the outside **** he does when he gets a handball receive, runs 20m then kicks a goal from 40 out, people blow their load saying what a great he is, but the educated football follower should know that it's the work from players such as Bolton and O'Keefe that create that play. They just see a big guy running around packs getting receives and think he's a star. It's bull****

I've spent years going to swans games seeing Goodes just skirt around packs. People may not pick up on it on TV, but in the game it's blindingly obvious when you watch him in person.

Call him a key forward if you want, but he's a mediocre one not fit to tie the shoe laces of the quality KPP of the competition, but if you call him a midfielder he's also a show pony.

It's a shame, because he seems like a really nice guy and has done great things in his time in football away from playing. Just think he's ridiculously over rated.

I wouldn't doubt that you're watching your first game.

Top tier of Carey, Ablett Snr etc.

Second tier of Robert Harvey, Greg Williams etc.

Third tier of blokes like Goodes, if he's lucky.

Not that I expect you to know ANY of those players except for Goodes. Don't insult us all. Get out of this thread.
Shows how clueless you are

I've met Carey and GAblett on many occasions.

Have you?

Sorry, stupid question

Harvey and Williams were very good players but collected disposal stats in much the same way as Buckley (most undeserved Norm Smith medallist in history but I digress)

Stop making a fool of yourself

Goodes is a dual Brownlow medallist and demands respect

If we were discussing Libreatore (dont know if you kow him but he was another much-criticized Brownlow Medallist), I'd simply laugh and dismiss it as the foibles of youth

But Goodes?

**** off

In general, Victorian AFL supporters are the biggest clowns in world sport - they are incredibly biased and generally know **** all about the sport that is their religion

BTW, I have my tickets for the GF (8th I will be attending this century) and will be sure to give you a wave so you can watch me on your b&w tv

Guess you know more about AFL because you've met a couple of players. I've met Wayne Carey as well... does it make me a hero?

And lol @ the Victorian comment about being biased (coming from a Sydney supporter!!!!). I'm from NSW. So well done. You know sweet **** all what you're talking about, so just walk away now.

And fmd at criticising Diesel and Harvey. Holy ****. Has to be the worst post in AFL thread history.

Especially how he claims that Goodes deserves respect because he's a dual Brownlow medallist, overlooking the fact that Williams has won two (should've been three) himself as has Harvey

Typical social anecdote:

"I was having dinner with the King of the universe the other day, and he said to me 'hmmm please, let me introduce you to this very famous sporting identity"

Enough of this. A rule question if you please.

Watching Hawkins last night, he often crashes a pack as the ball is comin in, ostensibly looking for a mark, but he seemed several times to go several seconds before the ball arrived. To the point where it seemed he simply was trying to scatter the pack for his crumbers. I don't know if that was his aim or if he just mistimed it, but at what point does that warrant a free?

Hawkins can do what he wants because is a Greek God.

Patton will eventually be the same. Chiselled cheek bones.

Cheers. Thought it might have been something like that but wasn't sure.
It's a free kick if the umpire deems it to be an "unrealistic attempt at a mark."
Generally this only gets called if he goes for a specky or something. You know a big leap on someone's back. Just running straight through and crashing the pack is fine (and is what every team wants their FF/CHF to do)

Thoughts on big Will "I study Engineering and hate indy music" Minson's slur against Pearce's mother?

Bulldogs have banned him for a week. I'm sure it has to do with the fact he's a repeat offender considering what he said to Kane Cornes back in 08.

Will is such a weird cat. Reckon Eade had it right when he described him as the ''the dumbest smart bloke in the competition''

This issue reminds me of the discussion in Cricket Chat about sledging and bringing family into it etc. I would have posted it in there too if it wasn't closed
For the record, the "sick kid" line has been taken as an insult directed at the kid. My understanding is that it wasn't - he just said to Cornes "shouldn't you be at home with your kid instead of playing football?" Not the smartest thing no, but hardly the type of thing people are making it out to be. Oh, and Cornes had already had taken a shot at Minson's dead father so there is that.
