Well Buttler would have to keep a lot more often for that to be considered surely. Davies, Bairstow and for that matter Prior would be considered first.

No TV game on Sky this evening, it should have been Surrey vs Hampshire. Now of course we know why the game has been postponed, the club and the family has all our sympathy, and there's no doubt that calling it off was the right thing to do - but with 48 hours' notice, was it really impossible for Sky to cover one of the other three matches being played instead?

I get the feeling that Sky regards cricket as very much the poor relation. Like when the excellent Cricket Writers on TV - on Sunday morning - gets taken off as soon as the football season starts.

Well, I seem to be watching Durham-Derby on Sky2 :)

twas a good rant though stumpski

I personally don't think I can criticise Sky for their cricket coverage, we almost have a live game every single day this time of year.

Certainly was, don't agree at all with him as far as Sky's cricket coverage, like you say I seem to watch a game nearly every day during summer and it's very good quality.

I'd guess the chances of Buttler keeping wicket for england any time soon are pretty slim considering somerset have called up steve snell again due to injuries and snell is likely to take the gloves again for somerset tonight with Buttler being used as a fielder.

Somerset have a load of injuries and unavailabilities so it's an extreme situation but still it's disappointing for England and Buttler if he's ever going to be a full time keeper. Really he is a victim of his own good outfielding.

Guess with there only being 12 available players, they saw Snell as a better option than what else was on the sidelines. And they see him as a better keeper than Buttler (although Snell is no slouch in the field, so if they really wanted to let Buttler keep then they could have).

Butler is a quality out fielder, so I guess they fancied having him in the field and not Snell. 6 of the normal starting line up not available, so somebody needs to step up big time.

I was rather hoping that the heavy rain over the south west at lunch time was going to drift up to Birmingham before play started. Would have settled for a point given the players available.

no idea how much cricket will get played later today with the full list of t20's scheduled. Maybe 3 or 4. Azeem Rafiq to captain yorkshire if they get on @ durham today

Hildreth threatening to pull off something pretty special tonight. And to think he wasn't even in the team for Somerset's first game.

James Harris started with a wicket maiden and has now gone for 48 off 4. 24 runs scored off the 17th over.

Edit: Ton up for Hildreth

Don't know what to say about Hildreth getting a T20 ton, some achievement for a guy who strikes at 117.

Luke Wright with another big knock 91 off 61, must be in the squad for the WT20 I'd have thought.

Herschelle Gibbs tucking into some of our bowling especially Starc, decent score put up by us but we cold do with getting rid of him sharpish.

Great to see Big Chris Tremlett back playing again, I know he's had a few run outs in the 2nds but still and gets a wicket in his first ball, RtD as well.

It's good to see we've give a chance to Rafiq to have a Captain tonight with Gale pulling out, he did well at U19 level for England so we'll see how he goes.

Hah, yeah, my PC crashed within 60 seconds of writing that, watched the game on SS2 as well as listening to the Kent game on 5LSX. I'd tuned in to the Surrey game only to find myself watching something called "Boots and All."

After so many matches that I'd planned to go to or watch had been washed out, was really looking forward to watching my team. :(

Still a **** excuse for a summer though.

Where I am it's launched it down all day, can't believe how many games they've managed to get in tonight around the Country.

Hildreth is a bit hit and miss in T20. I think he scored 100 against Essex a couple of seasons ago, but not very consistent. That said I would always put him ahead of Compton in T20.

Great result considering the team we had out, guess Glamorgan suffered from putting all their T20 eggs in the batting basket, leaving them thin on the bowling front.

Looks like Tremlett is bowling well on his comeback, 3 overs 12 runs 3 wickets. Never realised what a awesome twenty20 record he's got either, averages 18 & goes at just over 7rpo.

Glamorgan had a overseas top 6 I noticed today.

Essex bowlers being spanked round the park by Sussex, whose 209-6 is presumably the best total of the tournament to date. Luke Wright 41 off 21 and Joe Gatting 45* off 22 mostly responsible for that - Gatt jnr had never previously made more than 37 in this format. Might justify a move up the order, it's hard to do much batting at 5 in T20.
