I'm talking very much as their careers in general. Obviously if they were to retire tomorrow then you would have to look at how they performed recently and realise they were cut short in their prime. But if you looked at their careers in isolation, they wouldn't be anything special IMO.
Any bowler who performed the way Anderson and Broad have over the past couple years (longer for Anderson) are at least a bit special.

Interesting you brought up his average in that series (29, btw) because his average was better than Asif's. I know who the better bowler that series was.his average there was probably better than the career averages of Broad and Anderson
