Pardon me, i forgot to check my dictionary .Who is the his GraHAM Swann?
It would have just papered over the cracks and Steyn, Philander and Morkel would have eaten him alive!! , nah it's best to keep the young man in county cricket where he belong methinks.Surprised Finn rather than Onions was used as nightwatchman.
Guess Onions batting is too good? or something? but I'm not sure I would back Finn to bat 4 or 5 overs as nightwatchman particularly often- but he got the job done so no complaints.
Doubt there is any play tomorrow. Bairstow unlucky in that respect. 15 more minutes batting tonight and he would have had a nice * and reason to be cheerful.
I know what you're saying and agree to a certain extent but I wouldn't say that was it, they had a decent first day and seemed to roll up to today and think it was going to be a formality that they were going to get the final wickets, bat the day and the game was probably ending in a draw. Like I say they lacked that killer instinct and intensity today and the WI sensed that.I suppose that resting your opening bowlers does send a message to the rest of the team, as well as providing a team talk for your opponents. Not our best day.
Best do that with Narine then.It would have just papered over the cracks and Steyn, Philander and Morkel would have eaten him alive!! , nah it's best to keep the young man in county cricket where he belong methinks.
I've missed you WindieWeathersTo be honest i've felt let down myself, but let me put the facts on the table..
1. the last four day game he played was in Febuary in sunny St Lucia
2. since then he's played nothing but limited overs games, five ODI's vs Aus and then the IPL
3. he gets named best player of the IPl and goes home to trinidad to rest only to get a call out of the blue saying they want him for the last test even though everyone expected him to make his test debut vs nz at home
4. he wasn't picked for the warm up game against Leicester to get used to the conditions because Gibbo said "we don't want England to see him",
5. today he bowls his first spell and keeps blowing his hands because they are cold, to compound his misery he's forced to bowl on a major road which "top spinner" Graham Swann failed to get a wicket on and was carted all over the place for 86 runs,
And people really expect Narine to perform miracles here? the circumstances couldn't be more tougher for the lad, so i'm not surprised he's struggled today, but tomorrow will be another day and the tail is up for grabs here, hopefully he'll get a few wickets and build his confidence at this level, he's still learning imo and will have ups and downs, Ajmal wasn't murdering international batsmen aged 24 was he? so i'm not worried just yet.
Did I say it was bud, bit different to being carted all over the place isn't it joker. When you're meant to be "the best spinner in the world" then being 0/86 AT HOME isn't good imo!! .
Has Narine had three tests to prove himself like Bairstow?Best to that with Narine then.
Tino was hitting him all over the place though that's my point!! .Did I say it was bud, bit different to being carted all over the place isn't it joker.
So we're righting him off after that then if he's had no success.Has Narine had three tests to prove himself like Bairstow?
You do know Best only hit 2 fours off Swann.Tino was hitting him all over the place though that's my point!! .
Cheers, i'm just putting the facts on the table for those who didn't know!! , seemingly Nasir Husain and Bumble didn't either because the way they were talking you'd think Narine was Murali and the England bowlers had "figured him out"..it's just silly .I've missed you WindieWeathers
Not a lot.Looks like there's a little bit there for the spinners so needless to say i can't wait to see what Narine can do, especially if England are chasing a decent score (250 or above) on the 5th day!! .
His next two tests will be against NZ at home so yes if he doesn't get wickets you can write him off all you like!!.. i very much doubt that will be the case though!! .So we're righting him off after that then if he's had no success.
Quite, he's a top bowler but I didn't expect him to do much here. Tough on the lad to just pluck him out of India and have him bowl at Edgbaston on a seamers deck. He's barely even played FC cricket, was always going to struggle.WW hyped him up more then anyone, it was always far too much to expect of the lad in his first test especially on this deck.
No one is I hope.I think it's unfair to write Narine off after 1 game especially since the spinners haven't been that good on this pitch.
I did say the 5TH DAY, so lets wait and see!! .Not a lot.
