OK, so it's his first test and the wicket doesnt suit him BUT I remember seeing Warne's first test and at least he showed something (turned the leggie square and beat the bat a lot) despite going for 1/150.

Narine has been really, really disappointing because he doesnt appear to offer anything

Bloody hell. Ton goes begging for KP.

See what Bairstow's made of now.

Btw, what's the deal with Samuels's fingers? Each one seems to have plasters on. I always thought that was verboten for bowlers?
Yes said the same in the first test, usually the umpires make the bowlers take them off.

Wanted KP to bat on and on, enjoyed watching him and like you said a ton looked on for all money. See what Jonny can do now.

After all the hype it has been a major letdown. Got to give the guy a chance obviously but he hasn't impressed at all today.

I have a feeling with the finger tape if the England players complained he'd have to take it off. But they obviously don't care.

Bairstow castled by Tino. Well, at least he wasn't bounced out, I suppose. Has issues with real pace tho, clearly.

Sigh.

Not quite out of the woods, here.

Well that came out of the blue, good delivery but should have done better. Not sure about shouting **** at him as he walks off.

To be honest i've felt let down myself, but let me put the facts on the table..

1. the last four day game he played was in Febuary in sunny St Lucia

2. since then he's played nothing but limited overs games, five ODI's vs Aus and then the IPL

3. he gets named best player of the IPl and goes home to trinidad to rest only to get a call out of the blue saying they want him for the last test even though everyone expected him to make his test debut vs nz at home

4. he wasn't picked for the warm up game against Leicester to get used to the conditions because Gibbo said "we don't want England to see him",

5. today he bowls his first spell and keeps blowing his hands because they are cold, to compound his misery he's forced to bowl on a major road which "top spinner" Graham Swann failed to get a wicket on and was carted all over the place for 86 runs,

And people really expect Narine to perform miracles here? the circumstances couldn't be more tougher for the lad, so i'm not surprised he's struggled today, but tomorrow will be another day and the tail is up for grabs here, hopefully he'll get a few wickets and build his confidence at this level, he's still learning imo and will have ups and downs, Ajmal wasn't murdering international batsmen aged 24 was he? so i'm not worried just yet.

All in all a bit of a lackluster day by England, I know we didn't get going till day 3 and where the game was heading but it's all been a bit soft and lacked any real intensity from them. WI have been good for most of the day and have put England in their place as far as commitment showed.

Man of the day Best, crazy crazy batting from him, didn't think he had it in him.

I suppose that resting your opening bowlers does send a message to the rest of the team, as well as providing a team talk for your opponents. Not our best day.

'Carted all over the place'? really, he went at a bit over 3 rpo, you're definition must be different to mine mate.

Just goes to show that England with all their "lions tours" all over the world and development squads doing all sorts of high tech training they are still struggling to bring through a decent, young batter, Bairstow hasn't looked like anything special since i've seen him in these tests tbh, can hit a few boundries but looks like a mistake waiting to happen, it's also alarming how quickly he was worked out by our attack.

Surprised Finn rather than Onions was used as nightwatchman.
Guess Onions batting is too good? or something? but I'm not sure I would back Finn to bat 4 or 5 overs as nightwatchman particularly often- but he got the job done so no complaints.

Doubt there is any play tomorrow. Bairstow unlucky in that respect. 15 more minutes batting tonight and he would have had a nice * and reason to be cheerful.
