I was under the impression that D/L didn't kick in until 20 overs had been bowled anyway - at that point the comms usually say "we have a game" or something similar, if rain is threatening - but perhaps that's only in 50 overs games?

The same proportion in 40-overs would be 16 of course, so they were still short.
It's ten overs for a game in CB40.

I think Lancs would have got whatever they'd have been set.

So Bopara scores a century in an easy chase in a CB40 game, ends up as a Cricinfo headline.

Shortly after Bopara scores 65* against Northants in a Division Two game, ends up as a Cricinfo headline.

For ****'s sake.

Where would Lancs be without Prince? Averaging 20 more than any other Lancashire player and scored 200+ more runs. Moore is having a shocker, averaging less than 20 with highest score of 47 after 15 innings. Shame Prince was pwned by Swann as he would be a shoe-in for the test series.

Durham back in cameo batting mode. Our top scorer in this innings so far a 21yr old bowler playing his 3rd FC game.

The biggest shame about Prince is that he refuses to open the batting. Yet to hear an argument as to why he wouldn't be suited to it other than "he doesn't like it".

Its not as though Moore is completely out of form, hit 4 50s in 40 Clydesdale games so far - just not hacking it in FC cricket, much like the rest of our batting order, reaching 250 pretty good for us this year.

Derbyshire going well again today, already have a first-innings lead of 82 with five wickets still left. They have a team made up of players many outside the regular domestic followers would not recognise, yet they have started the season exceptionally well.

The talented Dan Redfern has been in good touch and will hopefully build on the many starts he makes today as his game continues to develop. The loss of Guptill will be a blow, and Derby will be keeping their fingers crossed that Usman Khawaja can carry on from where Guptill left off. But it's their bowling attack that's taken many of the headlines this season with Palladino, Groenewald, Wainwright, and Clare all chipping in with over 20 wickets (over 30 in Palladino's case), unsurprising given the early season conditions but they have still been impressive.

When the pitches do flatten and dry out, it may become more difficult for Derby to pick up 20 wickets, but they're making few mistakes currently.

I suspect Derby will be frustrated by the weather over the next 48 hours, but at least the teams in the chasing pack are unlikely to get a win either, at least not without a considerable amount of contrivance.

Kind of rooting for the Rams in the CC now, I suspect they've been out of the top flight (12 years) longer than any other side.

At least they're playing at The Hague, where the home side might be hoping for some of that Birmingham rain - it's all going horribly wrong against Worcs.

Looks like the weather is going shaft Durham for the second time when they've finally managed a winning position.

Yes, that and the Derby games have already been abandoned as draws. Looks like the only match being played in England is the Sussex-Surrey game at Horsham where Sussex are starting to build a lead. A bit surprised there's been no play at Tunbridge Wells, I've got sunshine here and the rain stopped a long time ago. Very windy mind, but I'd have thought that would help to dry the outfield.

Bit of a skin-of-the-teeth effort from Somerset - should be a draw now but they'll be glad of Alfonso's stickability.
