Hmm, not sure about cricinfo's tweet "Mahela's out. Sri Lanka 216 for 5. England clawing back some respect, but what an innings from DPMDJ"8-)

Indeed. Before the UAE, 219-5 and we would have been right on top, with anything lower than 400 extremely under par. Just assuming we won't get runs, which to be fair is probably justified.

Interesting that they keep the old ball for one over, which is bowled by KP...

I hate how they have their cut off time, and go off no matter what when it gets to then. At Lords last year against Sri Lanka it was a beautiful sunny June day (so really long day's) and they went off at 6:30 after bowling 88 overs. Obviously the match was affected by rain and was drawn 8-)

Pretty pleased with our bowling today. You can only play each match on its merits; no doubt we need quick wickets tomorrow but I think it's premature to count us out here.

Oh and is there still anybody who thinks Anderson is a one-trick pony?

"Takes wickets cheaply" technically still counts as one trick tbf.

Damn impressive on this tour, good stuff by him.

Hope SL can put up 300 tomorrow morning. However, I am not very confident if Mathews can shepherd the tail against spin like Mahela did at Galle.

I remember Mathews' slow 100 against Australia last year which proved costly for Sri Lanka. Will be interesting to see how he goes tomorrow if he gets left with 9, 10 and Jack.

Haha yeah I remember that. It was funny because it was so blatantly obvious that Clarke was simply trying to waste as much time as he could. Took absolutely forever for Mathews to get from 90 to 100.
