Oh okay. Only 1-4 are easy to pick itbt.

People weren't even certain about Carlton based on their pre-season form and injuries.

Easy to identify GC and GWS will be bottom 2-3, but spots 6-12 are up for grabs imo.

hopefully free agency and increased trading (eg player movement) will fix it up a bit.

That and the confected made for TV "blockbusters" which are planned months in advance and turn out to be 11th v 9th. Takes something away I think.

Nah I don't ever want the stupid NRL scheduling system. Do your draws in October/November and if you get a bit of a dud Friday match in August, whatever

NRL fans don't want the NRL scheduling system either. No scheduling system will be perfect but AFLs ****s all over ours.

The AFL is just better administered in general and I don't hesitate to say that. Something I hope changes for my sport obv.

yeah i didn't mean that as an insult or anything, I know how much NRL fans hate it. Just an absurd system.

I quite like the fact that teams go through cycles in the AFL.

You have your time at the top, slowly degenerate, bottom out, and then the exciting phase when you're rebuilding again (see West Coast Eagles from 2006 to now). By contrast, in the NRL, you just rebuild by poaching a player.

The NRL boasts about how any team can beat any other team, but I don't think that necessarily makes it a great competition, particularly when that comes about through many of the teams simply not showing up every second week. SOme of the teams are so predictible - they'll put in a great effort one week, and then you just know they will clock off the next week.

Yeah? If you've got Carlton in there who's missing out from last season's top 4?

No you don't. Ask the Titans how they're going buying their way out of a hole.

The cycles happen in both sports, they're just shorter in the NRL. NRL squads are smaller so it's easier for player movement, injuries and loss (or increase) of form to make a big impact on a team's chances at any given time. Even so you have similarities in the types of fortunes in clubs. In the last 5 years you have successful dynasties (Geelong, Collingwood, St Kilda, vs Dragons, Manly, Storm), competetive "also rans" (Adelaide, Bulldogs, Sydney vs Broncos, Tigers, Titans), rebuilding upcomers (West Coast, Carlton vs Warriors, Bulldogs) and the trash (Richmond, Melbourne vs Panthers, Souffs).

They're both salary cap based comps, so coaching, culture, shrewd recruitment and for the NRL junior development are how you build strong playing rosters.

You're to be congratulated on a marvellously lawyerly bit of obfuscation then:

Oh okay. Only 1-4 are easy to pick itbt.

People weren't even certain about Carlton based on their pre-season form and injuries.
Making a second point unrelated to the first but, to the casual reader, one that could easily be taken as pertaining to it.

A long and successful career at the bar awaits you, I'm sure. :p
