"My XI" on ESPNCricinfo

Richie's team:

Hobbs
Gavaskar
Bradman *
Tendulkar
Richards
Sobers
Khan
Gilchrist +
Warne
Barnes
Lillee
Miller (12th man)

I switched Khan and Sobers around seeing as I would assume the team was put up in the chosen order (and Richie chose Khan first). Seems very unbalanced to me though, but some seriously great players there

Don't see how it's unbalanced. 4 ATG bowlers + Sobers and Gilchrist at 8. (would bat him at 7 personally)

I always like to have a blend of defensive and aggressive strokemakers plus one or two middle order left handers. I would also have Khan as the skipper.

Really good XI there. Might have Marshall or Hadlee ahead of Lillee perhaps and maybe Murali ahead of Warne, but excluding that, rate this team quite highly. I don't see how it's unbalanced unless the X factor effect that Barnes brings to the team somehow doesn't work as expected.

unbalanced? :blink::blink::blink:

has to be one of the best (if not the best, and most balanced) fantasy teams that come out from former players

Maybe it's the unconventionality that I don't like (wicketkeeper at 8, two allrounders). Then again, I look way too deeply into my XI's and look for things like averages in specific positions, personality clashes because of egos, fielding skills, whether I can make a good slips cordon etc. Gotta love being pedantic!

I'm a bit like that as well. For example I would have Imran in my team and therefore Wasim is a perfect fit because of his relationship with Imran. In addition to that I also prefer a left-right bowling combination for my test XI.

Wasim took wickets everywhere though, whereas Lillee couldn't bowl outside of Australia or England. He also had a lot more tools at his disposal than DK. I also think the fact Wasim is a left hander adds to his appeal!

this is true enough

Wasim's high score > Sachin's high score... I see something significant here.
:P
