These two consolidating well for Pakistan. Desperately need to break this partnership soon or we're in trouble.

Ajmal and Amir once put on a great last wicket stand against the Kiwi's and nearly won the match. Maybe Wahab and Ajmal can do it this time. And who better than England, who have lost ODI's in this situation before. :p

Wow, just checked the score. Definitely pleased with the result. Yes I'm back to cheering for any team against Pakistan :p

But I have to say, I thought England would get blown away in the ODIs (4-0, 5-0, however many games these two are playing). Sure proved me wrong.

Some innings that from Cook, played all sorts of shots you wouldn't think of from Cook, brilliant stuff and lead the way to a very good win.
Finn is becoming something special imo, awesome opening spell from him and just blew the top four away. All the bowlers did a job and looked a good unit again, really pleasing stuff.

That's not a theory, it's an observation.

I reckon it's a bit of a useless stat myself. If he does that half the time but crawls to 10 (40) the other half then he's probably a net loss to the side. I'm not saying he does that, but well his overall strike rate in a given period will always be more telling than his strike rate when he scores 40+ only.

Crazy turnaround from him, looks a different player to what he used to in one day cricket. Even nowadays in times of high strike rates, that is very impressive.

True. The reason I investigated it was purely because I was answering Pickup's question as to whether he's our best ODI batsman; one of the things I really like about Cook is his ability to score quickly without seeming to make much effort to do so. The reason I looked over his stats was because I wanted to check whether my impression of Cook scoring quickly when he makes a good score was actually true or if it was just a case of "I remember him doing it a couple of times, so therefore he's always done it."

Cook's strike rate when he scores less than 50 is 66 and the strike rate when he scores less than 50 as a captain is 73.
