McCullum should either open or bat down at 6/7; don't like this business of him batting 3 at all.
Yep, Oram proving once again why he's a must in our ODI side. Even putting his batting aside, he has the best bowling economy rate in the team without Vettori.I know it's only Zimbabwe etc, but Oram and Mills, still gun ODI bowlers
That's the team that would give us the best chance of beating South Africa personally. It's the Ryder scenario that's most likely the most questionable but you'd think the extra exposure he would get to Steyn etc would give him a better chance of suceeding if he were to be called into the test team.Nicol
Guptill
McCullum
Taylor
Williamson
Ryder (let the fat **** just hit fours and sixes in the batting powerplay)
NcCullum
Oram (gun idea bringing him up the order. Seemed the give the big fella a new lease of life. Needs to be tried again)
Bracewell
Mills
Seamer
Batting order to be flexible from no.3 downwards
This.I saw bits and pieces of this and the Zim. fielding and bowling is a disgrace.
For a side of their calibre with bat and ball, you'd think there would be a very big push to make this facet of their game capable. As NZ showed in the ODI arena in the 2000s, you can turn a good side into a very good side by being an outstanding fielding unit. Zimbabwe could go from dire to not completely dire if they did the same. There's no excuses, these guys are young, co-ordinated (I presume) and in shape. Yet they're awful. God awful to the point they wouldn't outfield a club side at 2nd grade level at times.I saw bits and pieces of this and the Zim. fielding and bowling is a disgrace.
I don't understand it at all. I could have taken some of those catches. They should be practising their catching every day.For a side of their calibre with bat and ball, you'd think there would be a very big push to make this facet of their game capable. Is anyone even going to try pretend that this is a loss? Helllll no.Dean Brownlie fractured a finger. He'll most likely miss the rest of the limited-overs games against Zimbabwe.
Nah, Ryder's been dropped, and needs to earn his place back rather than just slip back in for some cheap runs against Zimb by default.Wonder if they will bring Jesse in - who is the batting cover?
I can't see anyone other than Ryder making the starting eleven if they were to bring in a replacement. I don't see that happening personally. It's too early at this stage. They will probably just shift everyone up a place in the batting order and give Bates a debut or bring back Bracewell. With guys like Oram, Ellis etc batting well we don't really need an extra batsman. I'm hoping one of Nicol/Guptill moves down the order to give Williamson, Latham etc a better chance at putting up a big score aswell.Wonder if they will bring Jesse in - who is the batting cover?
That's a lot of bowlers. This is definitely an opportunity to give another batsman a run IMO. Maybe CdG will get a run...I doubt they'll bring anyone in at all, since it's the last ODI.
