Wilshere destined to become another one of these Arsenal players who is rated as "a doubt" for the next match, and then mysteriously remains injured for the following 18 months imo.

Yes pass the armband from one complete tosser who doesn't merit a place in the side to another complete tosser who doesn't merit a place in the side.

Edit: Missed out old/past it etc. Just give it to the keeper and get on with it.
Lol?

I don't mind Gerrard, but think he's not the player he was, is very injury prone too, but there's the rub, who else would you give it too? Cole and Ferdinand are in the same boat, I think.

Parker and Barry aren't even International class IMHO. Oh and Joe Hart has now overtaken Phil Jones as most ridiculously over-hyped English performer of the season.

Parker a fair bit better than Barry I would say but yeah not sure who to give it to.

Gerrard was obviously brilliant, at least in the cotext of that Liverpool side in which he was the focus of everything but that's not really relevant to him right now.

Agree on Hart to a certain extent but he still easily makes the side.

Would much rather have Parker in the side than Gerrard.

Without wishing to sound like a certain poster who used to get berated for rating Parker he's looked pretty decent when playing for England whilst Spurs are doing pretty well (if he was playing for the CDMs or Chelsea and they were in Spurs' position it would be a given he'd be picked). He's one of the few English central midfielders I've seen who has the busy/high workrate and still has some quality when he has the ball. Gerrard doesn't have that quality and that's a big problem at England level.

For me I'd have Wilshere, Parker and Cleverley (need to see a bit more of him) ahead of the old guard. Barry would worry me because he's so slow he never seems to get back in time to help the defence in quick breaks and the rest of his game is competent but not exactly earth shattering.

Yeah I would go with Parker and Wilshere, if and it an increasingly big one he gets on the pitch this season and shows good form.

Milner got to be in the side somewhere as well, has been so good in big games this season.

Yeah, Parker, Milner and Wilshere all ought to be given a prolonged go I think. Gerrard on the decline and doesn't even have any past glories so to speak which he can live off, and there's only so much mileage that can now be got out of him in any case.

Regardless, he's the best captain for the Euros. If anyone had actually watched Liverpool this season, they'd realise how much ridiculously better we play with him in the side. He even made Carroll look like a reasonable player ffs.

He's most definitely the best captain we have for the Euros and the best central midfielder we have for the Euros.

You wouldn't say that if he was an Exeter boy. Best keeper in Prem and will get 100 caps.

I am biased though as he went to the same school I did. :D

Not a particularly high bar this season, but I'd much rather have Reina or chesney in goal.

Oh and Gerrard is twice the player that Parker is. Think Stevie may have got in Mourinho's Chelsea team, unlike Scott, Jose seemed keen to sign him anyway.

Gerrard was twice the player Parker was that's for sure, they play different roles anyway. I'd probably play both, especially if Wilshere is not fit and Gerrard gets through the rest of the season injury free.

Yeah, other's were comparing, personally find talk about holding mid-fielders deathly dull really. Think we need one, but that shows our limitations in so many other areas. If we could keep the ball, we probably wouldn't need one.

Gerrard is basically Liverpool's version of Chief Cheateur. The whole team played around him, were quite rubbish and it made him look a lot better than he actually was. Take him into a different environment, such as the international stage and he looks pretty ordinary - the only stand-outs are his truly awful first touch, Hollywood pass fetish and his random red card tackles. Parker will do a good job for England, Gerrard won't. End of story. I couldn't give a toss who people think was twice one or two thirds of the other 3 years ago.

If Gerrard had buggered off to Chelsea I have no doubt his reputation would have dropped several notches just as Chief Cheateur's did when he went to Barcelona.
