Should Indians? mind a big loss in this series?

A series loss here will move Indian cricket forward imo with some very much needed changes taking place in the side the team seems to have stagnated for a while now.

Clarke...just wow.

India just don't seem to give a damn in the field. People try to take the piss out of us conceding 1/517, India conceded 1/622!

They did bat OK, but I'd be shocked if we don't win. Christ our seamers were unlucky though.

Haddin deserves to go. He doesn't really justify a place in the side anymore. Lyon also shouldn't play against India in Australia - in fact sides should just **** off spinners against India away.

With that said, it felt like the middle-order woke up in 2006 over the past 2 days!
Yeah I don't really see the point of playing a spinner against India. The pitch won't break up enough to justify sacrificing another pace option

From India's perspective Lyon is a bit like the bonus round you get when you see off the fast bowlers.

well it will in Adl. Lyon pending tomorrow will probably miss Perth.
I think he's a very serviceable spinner, but I don't see the point of playing him against the Indians. Gives them a breather and respite from the other end

Ponting and Husseys innings still doesnt compensate for all their ordinary form and what that cost us in the last few years. If you give good players enough chances they will get runs eventually. Poor timing me saying this, but it must be said.

I'm sorry but if you come in at 37/3 as captain on the first evening and bring up a double ton the next day then deserve all the buffet bowling you have the strength to milk after that. By Briony's logic it's impossible to actually play a big high quality knock unless you're chasing a high score because once you put together a partnership it's a romp. The romp is much deserved after getting through the earlier trickier period and then keeping your concentration; that's what Test batting is all about.
While I certainly agree with you more than her, I don't think this post is entirely truthful. Even had this knock came in the first innings of the match then the game would be much more of a contest than it currently is so the bit about "unless you're chasing a high score" is wrong IMO.
There's also the fact that no doubt batsmen have endured much longer and trickier periods that Clarke had to put up with from Yadav and Sharma.
I'm only playing devil's advocate as I think it's an absolutely blinding knock myself.

That's why Watson is so important when he's bowling. Can play a spinner and you've got all bases covered.
