God Australia has gone soft. No wonder we're ****ed. Here's Haydos saying the first thing he does when he gets to Melbourne is go for a hot chocolate and some shopping.

First thing should be Spearmint Rhino then casino ffs

Spearmint rhino is such ****. Overrated and overpriced. My friend had his bachelors party there and it cost three times as much as it should.

I'm sure it's been mentioned but its a fantastic pitch here.
Indeed so. If one were nit picking ideally there might be a little bit more in it for the spinners this late in, but it's still been a great cricket pitch. Enough for the bowlers but equally good batting gets full value. Very few have scuttled along the deck or exploded off a full length.

Anyone see that slingshot thing the bloke was using on the nets to give that bloke throw downs? Anyone know if they're available at most cricket stores? I haven't seem them about. Be good for bouncing the under 11s

and had a stint in Canberra. Poor guy.
I think he's from Young originally. Cherry capital of Australia, and I expect Nathan may still have his.

Incidentally, there's a pet supply store in Young which is also an adult book store.

Was just a straight forward defence, tbf - just left a gap. Again.
Clarke pushes too far out in front of himself when he defends, always does it and it makes a gap that it wouldn't otherwise. Look at Ponting, keeps his bat and pad together, Clarke doesn't do it.

There was an interview with Merv iirc, and when asked about how they spot talent, he said they are looking for bowlers with pace and bounce. Mentioned nothing about movement.
Guess a lot of coaches would say that you can teach movement more than you can teach pace and bounce.
The hardest variation to pick that modern offies are bowling is the one that slides on and come sort've out the front of the hand. So instead of the seam pointed towards leg slip it's pointed horizontal and towards square leg when it gets to the batsman.
Swann bowls this the best, but Ashwin bowled it well during this match especially in the first innings, got a heap of drift with it. Like to see him use it more to right handers, tended to use it to trap left handers with LBWs.

Wade's a bit all or nothing with the bat and technically a tad loose at times; I don't think that's what Australia needs from its #7 at the moment even though he's a better allround batsman than Nevill. He'd be able to push home an advantage but I wouldn't back his ability to arrest a collapse against good bowling in the same way Nevill would.
I mean really, with Wade, think a younger Haddin. That's the easy imagery
Geez, seriously couldn't be more off the mark. Wade could be the most competitive person I've ever met. He used to play at my club and now when we play against him, we try and joke around and pull him out of the contest.

He's best off the back foot, and doesn't hit a huge amount through mid-off/down the ground. And didn't someone pull out some stats that showed that Wade is a lot better at getting starts than Nevill? Just like he's a completely better bat, ftr.

As an aside, it's amusing how Bill Lawry keeps saying "oh the crowd will build this afternoon" ...after they've fininished shopping / going to the beach etc.

I'm yet to know a person who goes to an international cricket match just for the afternoon. Most people, if they're going to spend $60, go for the whole day.

Maybe Bill thinks that everyone gets in for free, like him.
Know quite a few people who will head down in the afternoon for a peek. To be fair, a lot of the them are MCC members.

Dhoni is a hack. Haddin is a technically pleasing batsman to watch just has some mental problems.
Haddin's technique is all over the joint.

Besides the commentary team and a large amount of posts in this thread in the last hour or so.
And the opposition. Rest assured Clarke wanted him gone ASAP, he scores so quickly. You'd be mad to think they weren't sweating on getting him early.
