Not really, you can get far more power and control if you square drive something very full.

Having said that, he shouldn't have played at the ball at all.
Why not? Genuine half volley.

Can't believe collapsing the back leg and playing square is the way to go there.

Front foot to the pitch of the ball, full face of the bat, let the middle of the bat do the work.

Meat and drink.

EDIT: Just like that

It wasn't a half volley, and it was very wide, hence why he tried to play it square.

Surely the result could have been the same but if Uzi or Hughes would have been playing then atleast we would have been backing two young players with excellent FC records.
Three of the four blokes who are out have played less than ten tests ffs.

Years gone by, Ponting and Hussey would of had a 150 or 200 run partnership from this point.

Won't happen now though.

What sort of total gives Oz a chance? If they can stumble to 150 that'd mean a 200+ chase, which wouldn't be a cakewalk.

Looks a fair distance off from here, like.
200-ish probably.

We need 350+ to have control of the game though.

200 and Australia with a 90+% chance of win IMO. India will have trouble chasing anything more than 140-150.
Would say you're being unduly pessimistic there. 200 chase would be a 50/50 call at worst. Sehwag fires and India are halfway there in 15 overs.

& lol at Moody calling Wasim "Waz". Does "waz" not mean the same thing in Oz as it does in the UK?
