He's always been susceptible early like that. But it's about being good enough to exploit it. And from his point of view, weathering the storm (like Clarke in the first innings). The guy averages 50 odd over many tests so clearly he's been able to work around it.

Ponting's technique has looked pretty awful in this test match. Head outside the line by a distance and he seems to be striding towards the offisde instead of striding forward to meet the ball.
