**Official** Pakistan and Sri Lanka in UAE

Adnan akmal isn't as bad as being made out, he can play a bit.

There are two problems here, pak fans want ready made world class players, if they show competency in one area some immediately want excellence in another, and because of that they are unwilling to give anyone time to develop.

I think he could be a solid batsman averaging around 30 if given the time.

terrible batting so far today. They need to last at least this session today which seems unlikely the way things are moving

Not worried at all.Even if Pakistan get bowled out in this session,Srilanka will need to put on atleast 200 and give leave Pakistan around 350 to chase. And i'm assuming ideally they'd like to put Pakistan in before the day ends today to have a go at them for 4-5 overs.

Don't see a result here. This game has a draw written all over it.

A lead of 73 for the Lankans.

Younis batted well, and criticize Misbah all you want but he's played a major part in ensuring that Pakistan doesn't lose this match. It will take some rapid batting from Srilanka to make Pakistan face a total that they can't chase down on the last day.

If Dilshan has even a bit of sense,he would bat out till the day's end,put something around 170-180 on the board, leaving Pakistan 250 something to chase, and then put them in for the final 10 odd overs today so Srilanka have enough time to bowl them out.But i'm pretty sure Dilshan would want a total of 350 plus on the board which would be silly since Pakistan will be happy to play out time.Srilanka is the team that needs to think out of the box here.

a solid batsman with average around 30?
Averaging 30 is fine for a player who's good behind the stumps. At the moment Adnan is probably one place too high at #7, but if he can get some experience behind him, learn to bat as a foil to the more set batsman and the like, he'd do all right there. He'd certainly be the least of Pakistan's problems.

You'd give a side 250 to chase in more than a day against Sri Lanka's bowling? Nuts. That wouldn't give them more time to bowl Pakistan out, because they'd chase it by tea on day five.

disappointing bowling by Pakistan they seem happy to sit back and let SL set a target why not attack them a bit 2-3 quick wickets would have automatically get the Srilankans bit more cautious. Sure take the draw but atleast show a positive intent to the opposition.

Spot on.

He will need to learn to work with the tail, that's important.

Just 3 batsman with SRs above 50 for the series - Paranavitana is 29 for the series. Can't imagine what these guys SRs and averages will be when they came across a wicket with any life in it. Pak don't need to win and under Misbah they wouldn't chase anything above 3 an over anyhow but this is awful from Sri Lanka.

Ahhh really wanted Para to get out early. Just sucks the life out of an innings at the start.

Anyway 20 overs left, run a ball will still give 300.

Mmm. 50 off 131, opening, when your side is chasing a declaration and needing a win to level the series? Being cautious is one thing but he's just too limited. It's not like he usually kicks on with a start either.

He just has no shots. Very very limited player.
