They have two, both against a "Cricket Australia Board XI". Will be during the Big Bash, so will be an interesting team make-up. Guess that guys like Chris Rogers and others without a franchise will get the call-up, and they'll be leaving those near the outskirts to play for their BB teams.

They have one.

They were looking for more after the England ****-up, but I think the Australian domestic calendar is too crowded.

COPES

Could be a decent team. Can't think of any keeping options although Hartley might get released for it

Point of order: shouldn't the thread title be "Road to the Border/Gavaskar Trophy 2011/12"?

"Road to India in Australia" makes no sense geographically speaking.
I swear we had this debate last year and early this year with "Road to India in South Africa" and "Road to India in England" too :p

Not too bad - they're in Australia a good two weeks before the 1st Test so that's much more than I was expecting and is probably adequate.

I must say, I approach series much more optimistically now we have Harris and Copeland in the team.

World beaters? No sir.

Good lock down men, who won't let the game get away? Yep.

I reckon Clarke will fight ferociously for Copes' retention

Likes his reliability, accuracy

Now there's Cummins - an express, wild young bowler who slogs down the order - Johnson is redundant.

But they won't drop him

Hmmm, some long days watching Laxman and Sachin and Sehwag pound loose wayward bowling from Johnson and Cummins....

Well, you know I don't disagree with any of that, one of the few defenders of the Aussie bowling on here. The young back-up is as good as we've seen for a while too (if a little green). The problems aren't so much there, though....

Big doubts here for mine. There's a suspicion that Copeland has taken so many wickets at Shield level because he's been the beneficiary of the bowler-friendly nature of Shield wickets the past couple of years and, tbh, I share that view. Even if the bowlers do bowl relatively well (and there's question marks there), will they bowl well enough to negate the influence of the Indian batters?

In summary, the bowling's 'good' when, against the Indian line-up, in my view, it needs to be closer to 'great'.

Has two ODI tons here, though. Not Tests but they do count. And he's a far better player now, wasn't even in the Test side then.

Don't think that matters, tbh. Neither scored a ton but I watched a fair bit of the series and they didn't look out of form. Laxman in particular looked good before throwing away some potentially good scores. And I reckon Tendulkar just faced some excellent bowling. England are just too ****ing good right now.

On the plus side, I reckon guys like Mick Clarke are due to bust out some good scores. In fairness, there are a heap of unpredictable factors in this series, I could just as easily be wrong on every point above.
I feel you guys are under-rating your bowling. It's still the 3rd best in the world! I believe Harris, Johnson, siddle and co are capable of running through any line-up when they get it right. Moreover, they all bowl at a lively pace, which some of indian batsmen won't like to face on relatively quick bouncy pitches, so I don't know where the pessimism is coming from.

Just needs a thick edge to the keeper to be missed by the umpire and the Indians to refuse DRS. Worked for Symonds.
Finally a tour to Australia without Bucknor there to screw us though.

Especially at the SCG.:p

I do hope Bhaji tours though. Always something going on with him and its entertaining. Plus, he sucks

considering the modern era australian pitches and the quality of bowling from both sides, it might be a run feast for the batters...can't see any side winning it very easily though...australia slightly favorite of course
