Cricket

Golf

Those are the only three I watch a lot of.

Tennis
Athletics

Probably in special occasions.

Hate with a passion more sports than I love, but that's me I guess. All American Sports, Rugger, union mainly, but not a fan of the northern one either. All motor Sports, but F1 obviously takes the grubby, dull, corrupt, pointless biscuit.

Cricket is first by a way.

My passion for football is still there but has been dimmed by the pretty horrific way it's gone these past few years.

Can enjoy both codes of rugby, golf, tennis, some motorsport but it's sporadic.

Will watch almost anything live.

Cricket is my first love and used to be the dominant force in my sport life till a few years ago. All of the difficulties surrounding Pakistan cricket have made my interest dwindle a bit. Whereas before I ranked Cricket first and daylight second, the rest of the field has shortened the gap. My rank:

1. Cricket
2. Baseball
3. American Football
4. Basketball
5. Meh

Cricket, by an awfully long way. It seeps into every gap left by my other thoughts. And those gaps are pretty gaping. I bloody love it. Always have, always will.

Next up Ryder Cup golf. A genius format which transmutes the dullest sport imaginable into desperate nailbiting tension. Terrific.

Rugby union has grown on me in recent years, largely as a result of Mrs Z's influence.

Tennis can be good but it's a lot better if you have a player in the game to support. Which since the days of Tiger Tim (grrr!) means Andy Murray who let's face it is a difficult chap to warm to, especially when his hard faced snarling mother is cheering him on.

And football, once a comfortable number two, has fallen a long way behind. And I now view is as a whole other kind of Number Two (see Rooney, W).

I'll never understand people from outside Europe describing themselves as fans of European football clubs. I get as far as liking a sport that isn't really played in your area, I like a few american sports for example. But really connecting with one team? And for a sport as commercially draped as soccer? Baffles me.

Couldn't agree more, can't get my head around it at all, like you say I used to watch ML baseball for years never missed a game but never supported one team.
