5 from Junaid quality spell. Still very raw but showing improvement which is always a good sign now hopefully we bat well and get a decent lead.

Raghav

International Vice-Captain
Adnan Akmal had good time behind the wickets. Involved in 4 wicket keeping dismissals.

Mathews left wondering where his team went.

197 just on the wrong side of bare minimum for mine.

Well bowled Junaid. Nuwan Pradeep under the lens now.

Bit of swing for Lakmal here. But follows it up with a half-volley. Hmm.

Pleased to see my boy Junaid amongst the wickets. Impressed me no end playing for Lancs in our T20 comp. Seems to be able to deliver yorkers at will and found good use for the ball to castle Prasanna.

Misbah is a ______
Genius. :p

Christ. How about we at least wait for maybe more than one session before we completely write off the match and damn the captain?
Howe_zat is a genius as well.

Must admit that I was as shocked and perplexed as any when Misbahi decided to bowl first. Would’ve strangled him if he was in front of me. Good call in the end I guess.

I told you, Junaid has the skills just needs to polish them up.
I rate him higher than Wahab Riaz.

Misbah does have a rather weak bladder,no?

This is the second time he wet himself and decided to bowl first because there was a tinge of green on the pitch.First against Zimbabwe, and now here. That match paid dividends, hopefully this one does too.Perhaps keeping our fragile batting line in mind, eliminating the complete possibility of batting on even a remotely green top is the best way to go.Defensive yes,but if it's effective no one will complain.

Good show by Pakistan so far.I was surprised to see Aizaz Cheema in instead of Wahab, but he has earned it after the Zimbabwe tour and he bowled well today.Had a lot of energy and passion, and is a genuine hard worker.Junaid Khan was also very impressive, and has the making of a top drawer bowler.Hopefully this match is the building stone to many more great performances.

Lol so much rubbish. Time to drop some of these guys and get a few talented youngsters in. Exceptionally poor batting.
RR of ~2.5 again, these guys have forgotten to play shots:@
Anyway PJ is done for the next test. So we will get either K.Silva or Chandimal in.

Next up is Dilshan.

that Pirana guy is the culprit always sucks the momentum out of Lanks'a innings get rid of him Til Dil should go back up the order and bring in Chandi in the middle, harsh on PJ if you drop him was your best batsman just one series back.

So we've got a pitch that in all likelihood will be a road, where conditions for batting will be excellent on days 2 and 3, but there's enough green on it day 1 to potentially make inroads and we're criticising the captain for bowling first?

Harsh on him Lostman

PJ has got good technique against spin and I am not sure why he should be dropped after failing only one innings

There goes selecturds. Kick on the asses for dropping Sam. SL top order batters were just not interested.

Piranha + Thirimanne is slow. Dilshan should open, or push Mathews to open. No point in wasting him hogging the strike with the tail enders. Since Mathews doesn't bowl now, opening will be a good position for him.

Piranha, Mathews, Sanga, Mahela, Thirimanne, Chandimal, Dilshan will be a good batting order.

There were 3 WK selected in this squad, the selectors were letting him know that his time is up. Failing in the 1st test is the only excuse you need for a drop.

Yes we are.

There was not enough green on it to justify bowling first.Srilanka being all out for 197 was down to tight bowling, not a bowler friendly wicket. At the time of the toss, the only thing that justified bowling first was Pakistan's weak batting lineup and not exposing them to any trouble off the pitch, which there was none of as we saw in the Srilankan innings. It was an average batting display by them.Any other team with a decent batting lineup would have batted first without thinking twice.

Dude don't be so critical... Ajmal always a threat on a pitch like this and Cheema was also interesting to watch... The fact that they bowled first was justified by the small bit of green on the pitch... And I'd rather watch Pakistan bowl than bat anyways.
