Btw, I got 4 wickets not a 5-fer.

Should've won this :( ****ing Harbhajan. Hit 35 and only gave away 18 in his 10 overs, WAC.

CW kept an unchanged XI and batted first.

Progress was diifficult for Dharan, who could only manage 16 from 43 balls before getting out in the 13th over. Similar efforts from Heads and Riley meant that CW were struggling, and when Spark - the only top order player able to get his shots away - was bowled by Gagandeep for 40 off 45, CW had reached a slow and shaky 100/4 after 30.

Narang was able to forge a recovery of sorts, putting on 46 with Ikram (30 off 31) and 31 with Corrin (17 off 20), but India kept a lid on progress throughout, and Narang's 36 off 39 was ended by Harbhajan with five overs remaining.

The offspinner took four wickets to ensure there was no threat from the tail, including getting Hing and Capone in the final over. Harbhajan finished with 4-45, and CW were bowled out for 197.

The Indian innings started just as badly. Sehwag, having faced 14 of the first 15 deliveries, was out for 1, lbw in the third over. Soon, however, India took control of the game as Rowland and Tendulkar built their partnership, and reached 88/1 after the first 20.

Tendulkar was bowled by Hing for 40 off 56, but Rowland raised his 50 and after that India were happy to just tick off the runs. With 15 overs remaining, they needed just 48 with 7 wickets in hand.

The next five overs saw something off a stutter, as with 9 to go, India still needed 39. Winne had bowled 6 overs for 12 runs, and Capone bowled a maiden for the 41st, but CW still lacked the wickets to impose any pressure. The wicket came in the 46th over, when Rowland hit Capone to square leg (and finish with 87 from 128). Dong made the over another maiden, India now needing 17 runs from 18 balls.

The sniff of a chance disappeared in just six. Laxman and Kambli hit four boundaries from the next over and India were home, taking the series 2-1.

India won by 7 wickets

World Rankings Info:

CW's world ranking is 3rd in Tests and 4th in ODIs.

We have 5 batsmen in the Test top 10. Heads is at no.2, Narang and Dharan are 4th and 5th, Riley is 7th and Spark is 10th. We've only one top-10 Test bowler, Mark Dean is #3.

Heads is still the world's no.1 ODI bat. We also have Dharan at no.5. Our best ODI bowlers are Corrin and Capone at #9 and #10 respectively.

Matthew Hayden is the current world no.1 Test batsman, while Shane Warne holds the no.1 bowling rank for both Tests and ODIs.

Coming up:

Zimbabwe tour CWland for 2 Tests and 5 ODIs. I'll be resting key players in order to try out some new ideas for the World Cup.

1st Test vs Zimbabwe

CW rested several first-choice players for Zimbabwe's tour of CWland. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat.

Playing XI: Narang, REMOVED, Ballich, Riley, Dharan, Clark, Ikram, Hing, Noble, Dong, Phlegm

The CW seamers had the run of the first morning. Dong made an immediate impact as his fourth ball bowled Chari. Phlegm got two more as Ewing (lbw) and Rogers (nicked to gully) both departed for single figures, and then when the second opener Mutyambizi was lbw to Dong, Zimbabwe were in serious trouble at 29/4.

Zimbabwe attempted to consolidate, but Clark came on towards the end of the session and fetched two more out. The away side were 62 for 6 at the break, with Strydom the only one putting up a fight on 21*.

The fight did not last long, as Clark's first over after lunch had him nick one through to the keeper. The very next ball, Brent lost his middle stump. After Price had egded two boundaries down to third man - accounting for nearly half the runs Clark had conceded - the allrounder picked up his first five-for when Price was bowled.

Dong finished the innings when he induced an edge to slip by Mutizwa, and Zimbabwe had slid to a miserable 93 all out, with Streak left as the top scorer with 23*.

CW lost an early wicket in the reply as Narang failed to see out the session, edging one to slip for 10. REMOVED and Ballich's fifty partnership either side of tea put CW firmly in control, and though REMOVED was caught bad-pad for 40, the home side gained a lead and closed day one on 127/2.

Ballich had gotten to 50 in the last over of the day and Riley joined him the following morning as the pair started to build the lead. Ballich was out to Mutizwa for 75, but Riley and Dharan took the score to 230/3 by the interval.

Mutizwa picked up his third wicket when Dharan was stumped ten minutes before tea. By then, the wicketkeeper-batsman had hit 89 off 135, Riley had raised his century, and the hosts were in complete command at 331/4. No more wickets fell during the day, with Clark compiling the fourth half-century of the innings and Riley on a merciless 165* from 355 deliveries.

The pair brought up the 500 in the morning, and shortly after a square cut to the boundary by Riley brought up his first double century, off 410 balls. In the hunt for quick runs, the left-hander was caught in the deep without adding any more to his 202.

Two overs later Clark was cruelly run out just 12 short of what would be a century to go with his first innings five-for. Hing was lbw to Streak for a second ball duck and when Muwitza got his fourth wicket - that of Ikram, bowled for 21 - the home side declared at lunch. The score was 574/8, a lead of 481.

There was no respite for the Zimbabweans, as the first ball of the innings from Phlegm clattered into Mutyambizi's stumps. This time Chari and Ewing made a recovery of sorts with their 28, but Phlegm's last over saw Ewing 916) bowled as well.

Hing was hit for four for the first two balls of his spell, but the sixth got past Rogers' swishing blade to dismiss him for 19. The remaining 8 overs of the session went for 3 runs as Chari and Strydom stonewalled, and reached tea unscathed. The score was 59/3.

Clark was again the man to make an impact after tea. Strydom was trapped lbw by the allrounder for 14 off 58. Chari was remove in the same way, for 31 off 123 balls, and at 86/5 the game was basically over. Vermeulen and Ferreira made double figures, but were bowled by Noble and stumped of Ikram respectively. Ikram picked up a second late in the day, as Brent was caught at slip, and so Zimbabwe reached stumps on 137/8.

Phlegm only needed half an hour in the morning to dismiss both remaining tailenders lbw. It had been a complete hammering from start to finish.

CW won by an innnings and 339 runs

MotM - Alisdair Riley

Hope you're enjoying the graft while I sink a few cold ones.

Pretty pleased with my ODI bowling against India, particularly in the first two.
