It's what I've been saying all season to my county side - there's no good in having a few decent overs and getting yourselves into a decent position if you then switch off and let the opposition then have their own way, even for two overs (which was enough to cost us a game v Bucks...)
It's true for all levels of the game - keep on top, keep the intensity, and things will go your way because the opposition won't see a way out. Let your foot off the gas, and they'll be on you quicker than Yuvraj hits the queue for seconds at the lunch break.

Most of the prolific opening partnerships had two different types of batsmen - often one attacking/extravagant, the other solid, with a strong technique, which would be effective in tiring the bowlers and fielders. These two, when they're at there best, are very similar, both are left handed, patient, and tough to get out. Its good to watch in its own way.

And that is why they should have gone for that chase in the West Indies in the last test,imo.

I think you would have needed to win the series by 3 tests then instead of 2 from the predictor thing at the time.
Not sure what would have happened with a 3 nil win in the Windies.
