I take it you don't rate the EPL? I don't follow any of the leagues so I don't really know which one is the best.

We just don't call it the "EPL", think there were arguments about it earlier in this thread. It's the Premiership. Personally, I'm a bit odd, because I don't mind Soccer instead of Football, but the EPL winds me up for some reason.

Mind you I'd rather it was still called Division 1.

Ah, I see. My apologies. I know next to nothing about the sport, so just went with what the article stated. I'm with you, let's just call it Soccer and be done with it. :)

Oh I will always call it Football, but it's quite understandable to call it soccer, in countries where there is other "footballs".

I just looked back and I made almost the same post about four pages back. I was answered then by people saying it's known as the EPL everywhere else, so what's the difference?

Soccer isn't an Americanism though, it came from here, whilst calling things like the League, EPL for initials seems so. I stand by it glossing neatly over the FA Cup.

Well, at least I'm consistently irrational. As I said before it just irks me for some reason.:)

I've accepted the Prem being known as EPL. However it irks me that I'm willing to accept it.....

Was in India recently and it's paraded as the BPL by a lot of people over there. I blame the TV statiosn who are starting to advertise it as that. Barclays Premier League? **** off.

Damn johnny-come-latelys and their notorious trigger-happy backing of successful managers. Pure ignorance.

How would you feel about someone actually saying "English Premier League" in full?

I'd prefer the game where they actually use their legs to kick the ball to be known universally as football, but seeing as the name "soccer" originated from England as well, I guess one can't moan too much about it.

The league is marketed as the EPL internationally. Not the fault of the fans who pay subscription fees and stay up late to watch the league. Its the fault of the stations/media and the league if they are allowing it to be marketed that way.

Yeah Jono, that's fair enough, I think it's annoying though because there is no 'English' in the title of any of our competitions, or governing body. So it's not an accurate abbreviation.

Mind you, it's also not been the Premiership for a few years now but at least it was once.

I'm with grecian in some ways, it's Division 1, but then my boys would drop from 1 to 3 so maybe it's a good thing :p

Nah, good man Manan!

My mate has started following QPR this off season, which I'm excited about. Just a pity that they're gonna sell Taarabt straight off the bat...
