Harper lets Dhoni have it.

No, what is lolworthy is that you were arguing that Dhoni shouldn't have commented that way about an official when he had other forums like match reports to make his point.

Funny how this doesn't apply to Harper.. 8-)

And BTW, why are we taking it for granted what Harper says is true? Is it because Dhoni is the Indian cricket team's captain? 8-)
Firstly, I think it's pretty clear Harper did report these things.

Secondly, if a player retired and then had a go at umpires/officials, would I complain? Nah because that's your privelige when you retire. When you're the captain of whatever side though, suck it up and don't go on the attack in public. Pretty simple.

I think some of you India fans must have enjoyed Australia being #1 because you could throw all the special treatment stuff at them. But now India are #1 and the rich kids to boot, and you can't hack any suggestion of double standards favouring you. Not to worry though, as your #1 ranking is about to be taken away so you only have being the nouveau riche to contend with then.

I think they have a right to question them, just to do it through the appropriate channels and not in public, or in the manner Harper says Dhoni did on the field.
Every captain gets the chance to rate an umpire's performance on the scale of 0-10 after the end of a game, this feedback is sent to the ICC who evaluate these points after every year and it plays a big part in deciding as to which umpires stay on in the elite panel and which ones go out, so if you don't like an umpire then as you said there is a proper channel to deal with that.

What I really can't seem to understand is that India seems to have the most problems with umpiring decisions and yet they don't want DRS its this nonsense that's really beyond me.

This "nouveau riche" term that is being used to describe Indian cricket recently is highly objectionable IMO.

The term can also be used in a derogatory fashion, for the purposes of social class distinction, to describe persons with newfound wealth as vulgar—lacking the experience or finesse to use wealth in the same manner as old money—persons from families who have been wealthy for multiple generations.
Yeah, let's just make cricket an elitist closed shop so that no one else can aspire to reach the top. 8-) Also, it's strange that people only object to the wealth and influence of BCCI now that the team has reached the top spot.. AFAICR India have been the most populous country with the wealthiest board for a long time since the early 90s when cable TV took off and cricket started reaching every household. Funny that this only bothers people now.

What relevance is what other players have done? Pretty sure CW wasn't here in 1987 but I've got stuck into Ponting plenty in the past.

Utter nonsense. People have been complaining about the BCCI's behaviour since I joined this forum, at which point India were ranked 4 at the highest. BCCI are disliked because they obtained power through newly acquired wealth and choose to throw their weight about with this power. If the shoe fits...
