Damn. It was a good opportunity for Mukund. He loolked progressively better, but should.ve stayed on. The rodent and Dravid, if they can put up a decent partnership today, should seal it for us.

If you can just always play 120 off the pitch, spinners wouldn't get any wickets. Zaheer rarely gets above 125-128 these days for example.
Ignore that playing off the pitch bit.
My point is that at 120kmphr he is giving the batsman ample time to adjust to the swing.

Every few k's make a massive difference when you are swinging the ball.
If you are going to 120, the batsman can easily play you late.

When zaheer is fully or amost fully fit, he goes above 130.

Just take ishant sharma- when he bowls at around 140 he looks far more threatening than when he bowls at 135.

Should be an easy win for India following the pathetic batting display by the Windies
Well the batting collapse was expected.

I turned the tv off as soon as the last ball was bowled - did he do something after that?
No. He's referring to Kohli blowing Fidel Edwards a kiss during his spell.

After the last ball they had a laugh about it and were talking on the way back to the pavilion.

Sleep time at 1pm, which is 1 minute away.

You must be so jealous of Fidel.

two completely different bowlers Asif was mainly a seam bowler while Praveen is a swing bowler. However if you move the ball and are accurate you will always trouble the batsman it does not matter you bowl at 100 kmph or 150 kmph.Modern day batsman are there for the taking for a Praveen type bowler.

Yeah, aside from being about 5-7mph quicker on average, Asif also seemed to get better carry through to the keeper. It may've happened, but I can't recall anyone standing up to him either.

Praveen went ok before lunch but was allowed to bowl at the Windies by Barath and Bravo jr being so completely set on survival. I think if the batsmen had been more positive his figures would've been different.

After luncheon he appeared to lose his line and drifted onto the pads a few times before he was removed from the attack.

On the whole I thought he went better than I'd have guessed, but a better bowler for English conditions than Sreesanth or Ishant? Nope.

He certainly would be a threat in swinging English condtions and with the new ball can cause serious damage.

Infact him performing here is a big positive as they were not really swinging conditions.

Asif was a seam bowler ,while Praveen is a swing bowler who can reverse it too.

Wtf happened on the last 3/4 pages?

Overreaction @ calling Mukund not good enough based on one test match on a testing surface days after he has flown in from India to make his debut, after not playing any decent level cricket for Months now.
He was looking way better after he settled down yesterday too. And Vijay performed worse.

Also Mukund was not once troubled by the short ball which even hit Kohli a couple of times and troubled him massively.

And a even bigger Lol @ saying that Praveen Kumar can't trouble batsman at 75 to 80 MPH when he swings it even after yesterday. Pace gets overrated sometimes.
And he has a pretty good record on low bounce wickets too at FC level ,so when the pitch offers carry he becomes a bigger threat like Irfan at Perth for example.

@ cenvo

there's a huge difference between 75 and 80 mph (8 kmph)
120-128

he avg'd 75 mph, which is quite low.

English conditions are not as bowler friendly as some peope seem to think. As soon as the sun comes out, the pitches become batsman's paradise.
If praveen bowls at 120 when the sun's out, he'll get smacked around like a club bowler. I doubt they'll be much reverse swing either because of the nice greeny outfields.

Praveen needs to get it up to 125 kmphr+ on avg to start troubling good batsmen.
Since he doesn't swing the ball late, batsmen have ample time to play his deliveries.
Plus, he is not a tall bloke, so doesn't get much bounce- the ball just sits up to get hit as soon as he goes marginally short.
I personally dont want to see a medium pacer in the team unless there's some serious assistance or zaheer gets injured.

He's got everthing except pace, so all he needs to do is get his pace up/put in more effort. If he does, he'll be quite threatening!
