Pradeep bowls Hildreth and Morgan comes in, 105/3. Big occasion for him.

edit: Hits his first ball for four. Must be in a good mood.

editagain: Laughing at the difference in FC average between Morgan and Taylor.

Pretty strange headline from Cricinfo - "Battling Taylor holds Lions together". 192/4 at tea seems fairly even to me, or quite good if you consider that they were put in on a green track. Taylor's innings is called "hard-fought" twice, which again seems odd considering he struck at 55 with two sixes.

Anyway, 200 up now, Patel and Morgan at the crease. Still not sure I want Morgan as a Test cricketer, but if he's in good enough form to get a good score here I wouldn't mind having him in the side at all.

Still think Samit could win this race (yeah the only one he would win) for Colly's spot, IF he scores big and takes some wickets.

Any particular reason why?

Technically he's a better batsman for the format than Collingwood was. He's less likely to buckle under pressure than Bopara/Hildreth IMO.

He's weak against seam/swing, but thats hardly SL's strong suit.

It's because he hates all Irish people tbh

It's just his poor FC record that weighs on the mind a bit, as well as him looking clueless against Pakistan when they were bowling well.

Neither is particularly relevant right now, so I'm happy. He's great player to watch when on song so I'd love him to prove me wrong.

100 partnership up. Morgan on 84 from 115, and big Sam has 50. :happy:

How to decide whether to pick KP.

Q. Does the opposition have a better left arm spinner than Xavier Doherty?

A. Yes --> Don't pick KP.
A. No --> Pick KP.

Simples. :)

If they were going to go with Bopara before this game, Morgs getting a 100 is going to make them think again. Well done to him for pulling it out of the hat when needed.

Played, Moggie.

I'm told that Samit's been dropped twice today. Tourists having an absolute nightmare in the field.

I'm also told that Morgan's just hoicked one into the car park.

Cricinfo's twitter says "Superb hundred from Morgan. Unlikely to be enough to earn him a Test place, though."

Surely that's rubbish? He was already the most likely, and now he's a cert isn't he?
