No one, not even the BCCI are in a position to pressurise Tendulkar into anything. If they have already signed some binding contracts, they did it with their eyes opn; they knew exactly what they were doing when they signed it.

As an aside, as far as captaincy is concerned, Tendulkar would be doing a great favour to Mumbai Indians if he steps down from the captain's post. Easily the worst IPL captain, in all the three editions so far
.
Totally agree with that. But who could take over? Harbhjan?

Jimmy's record at Trent Bridge is so good.
Yes he averages 7 wickets a Test there. Glad we are not playing any Tests at Headingley this year, his worst ground.

I wonder if RP Singh will get into India's squad. There is Khan, Sreesanth, Patel, Sharma, IPathan, Kumar. I would think they would pick 5 fast bowlers in the squad and play 3. Harbhajan last played Tests in England nine years ago.

England India Test Series 2011

India is ranked the number one Test team since Dec 2009.

England are "fresh" from a great Ashes series down under, barring the the dispappointing stopover for the CWC2011.

Who is the favourite?

So impressed with England in the Ashes. So will back them in for the Tests. Otherwise the Aussies really are ****:-O

ceteris paribus, can't quite see past india. their batting is frightening and quite capable of carrying the relatively weak bowling. they could, however, be caught napping (read found underprepared in terms of conditions) as a result of the itinerary and would then have to fight their way back into the series.

wonder how the prior series will affect both teams? a below par performance in those series might result in interesting team compostions.

all in all, it's going to be one hell of an exhibition of test cricket. roll on, the summer, i say!

India are no.1, have done it well against the likes of even SA, cant see them not dominating England, whoa re as always overhyped like their footy team

Can't see us not winning at home, be a different story in India but at home we a re a very good side now and India don't have the bowling to do the damage in England apart from Zaheer Khan.

If Zaheer is 100%, this could be one of the best series ever. If not, we'll most likely see a Pommy win, although in that case a lot of the games will be draws imo.

I agree, hard for the bowlers to concentrate on the job if their undies aren't keeping the boys snug and cosy.

Tipping Tremlett to do extremely well. The Indian bats(Sehwag included) are very good at handling movement but steep bounce on a pitch conducive to it is something else. Reckon Swann won't be successful though. The burden of India's hopes rests on Zaheer's shoulders.

Who else is going to be bowling for India? I'd pick Praveen over Sharma, but the selectors seem to have him booked as an ODI player only for some reason.

Sreesanth a must for my pound. For all his flaws he is capable of swinging the ball at a fair lick and hits the seam regularly enough to get the benefit of any movement the pitches will offer too.

I still take Instant Karma as my third seamer as well. He hasn't kicked on quite as one would've hoped, but his height and bounce will be troubling on out later summer tracks if the force is with him.

England for the series, but wouldn't be at all surprised to India win a test.

Sree needs to step up if we want to get 20 wickets. Can't rely on Zaheer so much.

To carry our weak bowling we need to bat really well, one collapse and a 200-250 or lower score would probably mean the game for us. India's batting against England's bowling will probably be a lot more fun to watch than vice versa

England to win.

India have developed into a great side over the last few years, but so have England as far as Test Matches go.Reckon the biggest threat for India will be Anderson, who can be very VERY frightening at home.I think England has the edge because of home advantage and the Anderson factor, but if Zaheer Khan can fire you never know.I think whichever side wants to win will need atleast one fast bowler in top form for the entire series.I think it'll be very close, but England will take this one.

And Sreesanth vs Munaf is a no brainer for this series.Munaf can be economical, but not provide the wicket taking threat like Sreesanth.
