Ugly shot but fair enough in the situation.

Mitch... used to be so awesome through cover and point, hit some staggeringly sweet shots off the back foot.

Mitch should be 3. How ****ing terrible is Clarke trying to slog. Bat at 5 or 6 you fool and be the old Hussey.

Bowler to concede 100 today?

Will be the 4th time in history, joining such illustrious names as Snedden, Mick Lewis and Southee.

????

If anything that's even more reason to keep him at 3/4...

Hussey's a good slogger. Just ask Saeed Ajmal.

You're quite right. **** him off all together.
Lol... more to ODI cricket than slogging fours, you know.

100 for Muss. Deserves it, at a minimum for number of times he's turned ODI innings around for us.

Good figures for Razzaq in the context of this innings.. 8-0-43-3

Mussey WAG.

Looking at an imposing target. It will be interesting to see how James Pattinson bowls. He ticks all the boxes to be a potential international class bowler, but possibly a year or two off playing at this level.

Great knock by Hussey. He is the ultimate middle/lower order batsman and rarely has the chance to bat for a substantial period of time.

I can imagine the arguments on this forum in 30 years time that Hussey was no good at ODI's because he never converted his 50's.

All 3 batsmen who needed the opportunity the most failed :/
Smith was by far the most disappointing tbh. Ferg and Paine were in during powerplay overs so whilst their shots weren't great it's somewhat understandable, but it could not be more obvious that Clarke had basically said to Smith "you haven't had a chance to play a proper innings at #7 - here's your chance, huge amount of runs on the board and many overs to play with on a flat deck against a flailing attack, won't get better than this" and he slices one back to the bowler. He won't have been too impressed by that.

FMD that's poor. Forgetting to pick up the ball and they take another run.
I think he thought Australia weren't going to go for another run, but with Mussey there that was just stupid.

Hastings last shot was delicate!

Will say again that I really like the batting order we put up here (before Clarke starting messing around with it during the innings anyway).

i liked how we did our very best to make sure paine didn't bat.
Had to laugh at the bloke on cricinfo who said "Paine should bat above Hussey, he's the future of Australian batting!"

These two look like they're gonna go for it. For a while, at least.

David: "I agree with Jez but Steven Smith is not that 24yr old. I would see Uzzie Khawaja, Michael Hill or even Warner given that opportunity"

Adrian Meredith: "LOL Brad Hogg was a part-time spinner who was miles behind both Shane Warne and Stuart MacGill. While Hogg did okay in ODIs towards the end of his career, he is half the bowler of Andrew Symonds, let alone Steve Smith. Hogg was slaughtered by decent players of spin."

Amazing.
