I have an idea. Just make some anti-troll members to combat the trolls. The mods should just appoint members in secret to troll the trolls that they can't take care of directly.

Haha, that'll be time he got banned just short of 50k and a few people tried to get you to come back and reach the landmark first?

That's hilarious. How did I miss this! But wait, three questions -

1) Why did Richard get banned?
2) Is that the reason why he doesn't post much anymore?
3) Who reached the milestone first?

PhoenixFire

International Coach
Got banned for ignoring mod warnings about being Richard. He did reach the milestone first and it's not why he doesn't post much anymore.

Maybe we think Corrin is a troll and that's why we have Dhoni_Fan. :detective

Bit of clarification required, and I guess I'll need a mod to help me distinguish between what is right, what is wrong... what is worthy of an infraction and what is not.

Below are a few posts (I have censored the names to protect those in question):

You know it's a poor knock when Gavaskar is criticising an innings for being too slow.
Dexter said:
Would have been poorer if Boycott or Athers had made the comment.

Although a nice speech and all, I struggle to define a person who has a history of ball tampering and pitch doctoring (for want of a better term) as a 'class act'.

You had to come in an crap here, didn't you ? What has that got to do with how Afridi behaved today ? He was gracious in defeat and also very proud of his young team's performance in this world cup.

I am sure you apply the same yardstick to the bad boys like MWaugh, Shane Warne, Chappell and Lillee.

Question: All three posts have attempted to bait by introducing something off topic relating to the other person's place of origin in order to try and get a reaction. Therefor is this considered trolling, and are all these posts worthy of infractions?

Clearly it depends on if they are playing the post and not the poster.

As a matter of fact, I find your post naive, Parma and slightly on the Jono hammy side. I have no comment on the poster.

I think you can probably guess that the style of posting in two of the posts you cited were a major reason that member got banned. So, not acceptable. Neither is the third example you cited and there was a specific warning giving out in the thread by a mod to the member in question. We'll discuss if any further action is needed.

Now what's also not acceptable is responding to the posts yourself and derailing the thread further. That's not going to solve anything, and in fact will probably escalate to other threads all over the forum. Report the posts and let us handle it otherwise unfrotunately you will also receive a warning or an infraction.

While we are at it, how about the following posts ? Do they violate the forum rules considering we think of this as a family forum ?

According to Jono's missus, Indian supporters have been soft in the bedroom as well.
Sulieman Benn is a ******.

Well you've already had one lot of **** in your mouth today, why not make it another lot?
How is your erectile dysfunction going?

Always get the feeling that Indians don't like following sport, they just like following India.

So you punish the person taking the bait as much as the troll? Ok.

Also, why are warnings in a thread a substitute for an official infraction? Surely that's why infractions were brought in. No need for infractions if you can just warn them in a thread surely.

No offence meant here, genuinely interested.

Whilst we're at it, I'm sure I saw another member refer to Benchy as a ****sucker the other day. Didn't report it as it doesn't offend me, but why wouldn't it be filtered?

The person who instigates the issue is most likely going to get a stiffer penalty. However, if you respond to the poster and cause a derailment, you are also at fault. The end result is that a thread is ruined. That's why you should ignore the post and let us handle it.

As for the warnings in the thread, they are not a substitution for infractions (or warnings) handed out to the offending poster. They are meant to inform the poster in question, and the general public, that the post was not acceptable so there's no doubt in anyone's mind that we neglected to handle the issue.

Benchy, discussing this specific issue publicly is obviously going to lead to further back and forth between you and Sanz. If you have further questions, please e-mail us and we can discuss it in detail.
