Lol totally disappointed with Bopara. When he initially came on, thought he was a genuine talent, but seems to have got lost somewhere down the way.

Tremlett has bowled really well, extracting what the pitch has to offer. Everyone else has been piss poor though; just going through the motions as if they know they are already defeated.

What a shame that England's exciting roller-coaster ride at this WC should end with such a damp squib.

I am not really surprised with this performance, we have not been a good one day side for donkeys years so to expect more than a quarter final appearance after so many problems through the competition was a bit much.

Well done SL though, thoroughly professional job on us apart from 5 mad overs in the middle of the England innings, regrouped well though.

Really England? So much hype about them being a formidable team... And they blow it. Really sorry for all the supporters, no effort being put in.

Shame :(

Oh well, I was glad to see us play with as much spirit as we have up until now, especially with the injuries and the loss to Ireland, which could have just meant we gave up a bit.

Sri Lanka look really good, especially with home conditions. I reckon they should beat NZ, but whether they can manage a final away from home I dunno.

That it's not a surprise is not a surprise, but after all the surprises so far, the lack of a surprise is a surprise... if that makes any sense

I'd love to know where this hype has been about England being a formidable one-day side. Most of us have been pointing out the exact opposite for ages. Granted I thought we might put in more of a show than this, but that requires your skpper to have some sort of a game plan. Not that it would have changed the final result though.

That's the most disappointing thing. Contrast this effort by England in the field with NZ's effort yesterday. Both teams trying to defend a low total, NZ fought tooth and nail and put everything on the line, half the England players look like they don't even want to be there. Pathetic.

Thought this game was lost after SL put a Pakistan type fielding display, and didn't expect our openers to do so well. Thought 230 was a good score tbh.

Also must give Tharanga credit, I constantly bash him as shot less hack that only smashes minnows but he really really stepped up today. His coming down the track and smashing Swann in the early overs, set a good positive tone for the chase.

To be serious for one moment, SL in SL are incredibly tough

Having said that, I dont think they'll win the WC because their bowlers are pretty poor outside home conditions and whoever wins the SF between India and Pakistan is a massive favourite IMO

I think I can say I was a tad wrong:laugh:

Anyway, hope this means that the drastic changes to our ODI side can be made, which most England supporters on here have wanted for a while.
