He has about 35 overs to play himself in. Does he need more time? They clearly played to a game plan, hence Sammy, Gayle etc just went crazy on all the bowlers.
Not so much the overs now though, they are 5 down with little to come, and had Bopara taken that catch off Pollard it could have been a more serious situation.

This is how it ends isn't it? Losing wickets to Tredwell and Bopara just sets things up for Wright to finish it off. This is exactly how it ends, isn't it?

Remember that just because a plan isn't executed doesn't make it the wrong plan.

Wright sacrificing the search for extra pace in order to focus on a nice tight line. Can bowl a good 5 mph+ quicker than this, but prefer him hitting those areas more consistently.

No that's very true, but I wasn't in favour of the plan originally (which again doesn't make it the wrong plan).

Pollard gone now, Sarwan looking as though he's going to be left high and dry

Such a bad shot from Pollard. God damn.

Great field placements from Strauss though. As Bishop said, I guess it made Pollard second guess coming forward.

7.6 the windies now, think it's a good bet really, certainly think the ones backing England at 1.17 need to give up gambling.

I think even if Sarwan was to come at 4, they would have ended up in precisely the same situation or perhaps worse.

The idea here is that Sammy/Thomas etc are more likely to score 40-50 runs against the hard ball when there is little pressure on them with Sarwan still to come than scoring the same number of runs in the 40th over with 2-3 wickets left and the game in the balance. On the other hand, Sarwan scoring runs probably does not depend so much on the match situation.

Anyhow, whether it has worked or not is up for debate and one can only surmise as to whether it was a good plan or not. What we can agree on though, is that dropping Chanders was a colossal mistake.
