In the match thread on Sunday, Got_Spin said he didn't like India and got labelled racist. **** all was done about this yet all match there were a number of posters, including normally good ones like Turbinator, trolling and baiting England in a big way.
G_S' post was out of line. I said he was acting like a prick and got a warning for it. He apparently got a warning for it too. The person that called him racist got a ban.

I see no problem.

I was logged on when he said that mate, only vicleggie accused him of being racist (which is clearly rubbish) and he got banned the same day. Another idiot signed up and posted some horrible trash which was thankfully, promptly deleted.
Turbinator did as well, actually. And even Jono (whom despite being a total **** I like a lot) said 'I wonder about you' which had suggestive connotations, IMO

No, but people are openly stating (and profile messages, which I have came across of and were disappointed with having to read what I read, are open) that all these issues arose because it was a match with Indian fans. Don't deny that it hasn't been said, because it has.
Yeah and that's because most of the trolls tend to support India. I'm not going to deny that because it's bloody true.

The 'overrated players' thread is closed because despite repeated warnings, it's just snipes between posters.

I don't care whether they're snipes about Murali chucking, Clarke claiming bounced catches, Pietersen being born in South Africa, or Tendulkar's hair cut. And I certainly I don't care which country the poster is from or the colour of their skin.

Dude, you're talking about something Jono saying having "offensive connotations" while Got_Spin openly, and in all (apparent) seriousness calls all Indian players and fans "wankers". Think he can deal with whatever connotations there are TBH. I thought Turbinator kissed and made up with him afterwards, in any case and admitted that he had overreacted IIRC. So where's the problem?

Agreed.

And the ban announcement thread says that sirmallaya was a duplicate account of vicleggie in any case.

Exactly. Got_Spin's post was absolutely out of line. I chat to the guy via personal profile messages and have the guy on Facebook, but people acting like his post was angelic and meant no harm and kidding themselves.

Yeah and most people responsible for heinous terrorists attacks in recent years happen to be of the Islamic faith. You wouldn't (I'd hope not) go around claiming that we'd be better off without Islam or that the whole religion is the problem.

Don't do the same with Indian posters.

The problem is Migara trolls against Bradman in countless threads and apparently that's alright. But when a couple non-serious remarks are pointed towards Murali the thread is locked up. Migara's constant attacks against Bradman are just the same IMO

Oh yeah, my comments towards the Indian team and her fans was out of line but I detest being called racist.

No-one said it was angelic but it wasn't racist.

I often say 'Man U players are all wankers and so are their fans'. He's just replaced that with the India team.

Nowhere have I claimed we'd be better off without Indian posters though mate. You're taking a bit of a straw man stance against me here.

We'd be better off without some Indian posters? Certainly. We'd be better off without some Australians, some English posters, a Sri Lankan poster springs to mind.

The fact is, though, that the England-India threads are much harder work than the Eng-Aus one even though we actually have a traditional rivalry with Australia; I gather the same from the Ind-Aus threads. It seems that when these matches are one, for every decent poster like you, Teja, vcs, there's a troll.

Just IMO, I don't want you to take offence at this; I just strongly believe there are more India-supporting trolls than any other nation.

Um yes, Moderators stepped in, warning and bans were made due to the statement! It's not like allegations of racism were tolerated.

Then you, or a Mod, ought to have said something to Migara when he was doing just that. There was one post made in that thread that could be construed as having anything to do with Murali chucking. The posts I made in there were mirror images of the untrammeled posts Migara made earlier in the thread.

You all bang on about consistency, and in 15 minutes tonight you demonstrated how thoroughly inconsistent the moderation of the new system, and of warnings and infractions, really is.

Firstly, it's not the same thing and you know it. You are identifying a nationality, which goes WELL BEYOND mentioning a football club. If a poster said "all Pakistani cricket players are cheats" or "all Indian cricket fans are hooligans", due to incidents of the past, it'd be pretty frickin' offensive and almost banworthy.

Secondly, I didn't say it was racist. I do think Got_Spin has a huge problem with Indian cricket fans though. He probably knows that himself.

No-one has come out and said all India fans are ****s Jono so I don't really get what point you are trying to prove.

Furball's points about the double-standards is the big one though. Migara trolled and trolled Bradman and his supporters in that thread but as someone makes a reference to Murali's action (well, presumably that's what he meant) the thread gets canned. The mods claim that sledger would have been infracted whichever player he labelled a buffoon; unfortunately it's such a tedious infraction that there's no precedent to base it off but I think we all know it's complete bollocks.
The thread got closed i think because it was just constant snipes only,i think.
Though i don't agree with the closing.

Got_spin never said he did not like India as you put it .

This was his post. -

Also comes with having a team filled with wankers and supported by even more wankers
While i agree ,it was not racist ,but it was abusive towards a nationality of fans and players.

And while the others calling it racist were banned and warned ,i would like to know what action was taken on Got_spin who came out with this post.

And what's more he came out with calling the supporters and players wankers without any real reason.
And you are using that as a example to prove your point.

I also have some fairly damning evidence that there is subcontinental bias in the way the site is moderated and if you want it from me, drop a mail at say_no_to_haircuts@hotmail.com. Thanks.
And if you want a list of of subcontinental posters who you have moaned about with posts and got banned about E_mail me.
