Opening ceremony

Liked the cultural bits tbh but the rest was rubbish. There was one chick I saw on the stage that was so damn bangable though, almost made it worth the watch. Other than that, thank God for the other 100 channels I switched through during the speeches and other boring bits. The posts in this thread are quite a laugh though.

I didn't watch it either. I had an inkling that it'd be boring.
If they had just introduced the players from each team. Giving a couple of minutes to each of them. It would have been alot better & Cricket lovers would have enjoyed it too.

I didn't actually know there was a ceremony. I was really surprised when BBC cricket showed me a picture of Ricky Ponting riding an unusually extravagant wheelchair.

Funny how the ICC website has a clock counting down to the World Cup... but it still has another day and a bit to go. Obviously they didn't rate the opening ceremony as being important either...

Another thing that i find odd is the timing of the Ceremony. It should have been held a day before the first match, and not BETWEEN the warm up games.

I think i'll run for the ICC president next time. You people can send me your cricket revolutionizing requests.

Found it on yt if anyone's interested.

Part 1

Part 2

Watched it for captains-on-rickshaws bit (part 1, 14:14). Was fun at least. Darren Sammy cements his reputation as one of my favourite cricketers ever.

I guess the excuse will be the players travelling to the first game and that England and Pakistan aren't involved on the opening couple of days so wanted to play a game as late as possible so they aren't going a week without one.

I can't believe people actually wasted time watching this. I had no idea the WC opening ceremony was on but saw a few minutes on a TV at an electronics store and realized I wasn't missing much. Actually I didn't realize it was in BD and was quite embarassed that India was putting out this crap. The captains on rickshaws sounds like a pretty cool idea though I haven't seen it yet. And according to this Cricinfo article the atmosphere around the stadium was great.

Should have happened in India and Modi should have been in charge.
I liked the fact it was in BD, but there should have been less of the 'stars' and more of things like that awesome laser display and the captains in rickshaws thing

I reckon they should introduce rickshaw races instead of the toss. Each captain chooses the opposition puller and it's a lap of the outfield.
