*Official* India in South Africa

Aside from England and Pakistan, every team has won the Champions Trophy (previously called ICC Knockout).
Did South Africa?

The champions trophy started in 2002 .

Edit- I see they won the 1998 knockout trophy.

As for the match, South Africa were better than India on the day and thoroughly deserved the victory. Some of the Indian players were playing their first match in typical South African conditions though - the T20 match wasn't played in typical South African conditions - so they will certainly improve as the series goes on.

Too much being made of this match.

The toss is too important in a day/night match there at durban and it was the case once again.

Out of the last 15 games,12 matches have been won by the team winning the toss and one has been a draw.
India are never outplayed are they?

India played pretty **** but what Cevno says is true; only two D/N ODIs in the last ten years at Durban have been one by the team losing losing the toss.

I would blame the Indian batting a touch more than the Indian bowling for the defeat. The bowling could certainly have been better, there is no question about that, but the Indian batsmen never really gave themselves a chance. The best way to approach such a chase in South African conditions is to see off the new ball and ensure you have enough wickets in hand to go for broke at the end of the innings. India lost the game in the first fifteen overs of their innings, really. It must be said that South Africa bowled brilliantly yesterday, they were immaculate from start to finish.

10th post with the same? We wouldn't know if India would have won the toss, needless to say .... They would have lost as well and we would hear some other lame excuse.

What about: The better team won!. Too much? Yeah ...
Haha people say this after every Durban D/N. It's funny because the "better team" and the team that won the toss are the same team roughly 100% of the time.

Well they were, regardless of the toss. No excuses there. They batted poorly and SA bowled really well. Although i would love to see how SA cope when they bat second against a big total in durban because of the fact that i don't really rate "this" SA'can batting line up.

If India had scored in excess of two hundred and fifty, then you could have made a fair case for toss being the difference between the two sides. However, the fact that India could barely manage half of what South Africa scored means they were comprehensively outplayed.

Whatever it takes!!!
lol.. don't see the excuses at all.. No matter what the conditions were, we sucked big time yesterday... I seriously think it was more of a case of us playing bad than RSA playing great, tbh.. Although, time will tell on that.

Felt shattered for Dhoni though.. Was just about starting to get interesting then, with Kohli and Dhoni.. It is 2-1 to us in terms of the unlucky dismissals now..

You do have a very valid point here.

Not at all, because the difficulty in batting second lies in the fact that the new ball is unbelievably difficult to get through under lights- something that was especially obvious in this particular match- Steyn at one stage bowled a length ball that went over Boucher's head for four byes.

Winning the toss almost certainly wins you the match in a Durban D/N, it's as simple as that- I know it would sound bitter coming from an Indian fan, and in a lot of cases it might well be, but it's the truth. You can definitely criticise their bowling for letting South Africa get a total that was comfortably more than they should have, but the actual result of the match is pretty meaningless beyond the fact that it won CW's unofficial betting syndicate more money.
