Nah, almost has done what Bevan has done up to now. And plays short ball better too, and more aggressive as well. If he plays 300 matches with the same Avg and SR, he'll beat Bevan hands down.Hasn't done enough yet. No way is he an ATG.
Being more aggressive is not quite as useful if the less aggressive batsman is a greater match winner.Nah, almost has done what Bevan has done up to now. And plays short ball better too, and more aggressive as well. If he plays 300 matches with the same Avg and SR, he'll beat Bevan hands down.
As I have watched both, I think both are equal when it comes to winning matches. Bevan bit more consistent, but Dhoni can play that dream knock to win from a no hope situation than Bevan. That's when aggressive batsmen score more points.Being more aggressive is not quite as useful if the less aggressive batsman is a greater match winner.
Can't see Gilly being a lock forever. Dhoni's pretty damn good in my eyes. Would still pick Gilly, but then I'm Australian.Tendulkar, Gilchrist, and Richards are the only 'locks' in an all time ODI team. Every other position has a fair number of comparable competitors and it's just down to personal preference at that point.

Was posted in the first page, but this is pretty much bang on for mine. 5 very good bowling options, plus Symonds and Viv to turn their arm over if required. Hitting all the way down to 9, as well. Only change I would make would be switching Bevan and Symonds, but that's a hell of a team.Could pretty much open with Gilchrist so there's no need of Sehwag. Mine would look something like this:
Adam Gilchrist+
Sachin Tendulkar
Viv Richards
Ricky Ponting*
Michael Bevan
Andrew Symonds
Lance Klusener
Shaun Pollock
Wasim Akram
Joel Garner
Muthiah Muralitharan
This team is good but would be even better if there is Kallis in place of Klusener. I love Kallis as you know, but he definitely wouldn't be a better pick than Klusener at #7. He'd have to bat in the top four (or maybe five at a push) if he was picked and I don't think you can justify it over the other candidates. Klusener was very good at his role. This team is good but would be even better if there is Kallis in place of Klusener. Kallis >> Klusener
and Kapil??? A much better bowler than klusener and a very handy bat at number 7. smashed 175 in no timeI love Kallis as you know, but he definitely wouldn't be a better pick than Klusener at #7. As I've said in this thread before, I'm not comfortably with Kapil Dev batting #7 in an all-time world team given his batting record. He wasn't good enough to bat there at this level IMO. I'm more comfortable with Klusener, Richards and maybe Symonds if I pick him sharing the fifth bowling role than I am with Kapil batting seven.and Kapil??? TBH Jayasuriya should be definitely in contention. The only real problem is that Gilly did the same job as him (opening aggressive all-rounder) but better.fmd some people are deluded.
Advocating Ganguly and Jayasuriya as opening btsmen fmd.
