Well it's either dussey or him, and considering he's scored a 70 in his last innings against Asif, Aamer and co and a 50 in the warm up match, I'd prefer him over dussey albeit marginally. And his bowling is a bonus, can't be any worse than North/Doe.No, but he needs to score runs more consistently at FC level if he's to be a specialist batsman (IMO anyway).
Exactly, so therefore unless he has somehow changed his actual bowling in a matter of weeks, he will be the same old Hauritz if he plays in Perth. No, but I don't think anyone's trying to say he has
It's all bull**** just so he could get that spot. For over a year I've heard Hauritz has a doosra. He bowled it once vs Pakistan iirc last year. He should back himself and bowl the ****ing thing.
Not necessarily, it could be something as simple as he realises he needs to bowl a slightly more attacking line.Exactly, so therefore unless he has somehow changed his actual bowling in a matter of weeks, he will be the same old Hauritz if he plays in Perth.
Lol...good one:
You guys realise that pic proves nothing right?Clearly hit the ground, wasn't a good shot though deserved to get out.
Hmmm possibly. This is from a article when Aus were playing in India and Hauritz was struggling:Not necessarily, it could be something as simple as he realises he needs to bowl a slightly more attacking line.
And even if it is the same old Hauritz he's probably the best spinner you've got when all else is equal.
Yeah the most likely is just a change in attitude after being dropped. He got 0 for 44 though in the most recent innings, while Smith got a 4-for, so not everything is going smoothly. His 5-for could just have been a coincidence for all I know. It's funny though because Johnson also got a 5-for and a century as well in Shield cricket recently, yet his performance afterwards at the Gabba was nothing short of ****house.Well what ever it is, you can't say it hasn't worked for him. If he went back to Shield cricket and, rather than bowl pies like he did in India, he just bowled as we all know he can then I think you'd have a point.
But whatever has happened has allowed to him to take his best Shield haul and then score a century, so safe to say that there's something not the same as it was before.
Wouldn't put it all down to 'frightful batting form' myself. They're in decent form, but they didn't suddenly become brilliant in the 2nd innings of the Brisbane test. They've been helped out by the decks and the Aussie bowlers/fielders. They're batting well, there's no doubt about that, but I think their success has a bit to do with other factors too.Their top order has been in the most frightful batting forms, but is it realistic to expect this level of batting from the likes of Strauss, Cook, Bell, and Trott for the remaining series. They are not some great batsmen, very good ones who have hit form at the same time. Can they sustain it for the length of the series? I have major doubts.
He's the incumbent replacement though, and you know we always have to pick from the same pool of 14 or 15 players SS...I hope he scores a triple hundred, but he's not really in great form at the moment. So you're going to bring in a guy in ****ty form into an Ashes series you're 1-0 down in hopes that he'll find his form sometime before they go down 2-0?
doesn't mean u need a spinner, the best bowlers should play and especially for a pitch like the wacaNot necessarily, it could be something as simple as he realises he needs to bowl a slightly more attacking line.
And even if it is the same old Hauritz he's probably the best spinner you've got when all else is equal.
You do realise that Hauritz basically has been dropped for having two bad tests against the same team that didn't even spare the great Shane Warne...!?Yeah not necessarily, but as I said, there is only so much you can improve your bowling by having a 'good attitude'. It's not like Hauritz can use mind powers to suddenly become as good as Warne.
I think its pretty much an open secret that the Australian spinners aren't really being encouraged to bowl the doosra, so can understand why likes of Hauritz and Krezja aren't that keen on bowling it.For over a year I've heard Hauritz has a doosra. He bowled it once vs Pakistan iirc last year. He should back himself and bowl the ****ing thing.
Different selectors.Ian Healy?
Tremlett, Shahzad and Bresnan in that order. They can all bat a bit so in that regard the replacement of Broad should be pretty seamless. Tremlett is a better bowler than Broad imo, and Shahzad looks to be a handful as well judging by the game for Aus A. As you said, Bresnan is the weak link in that bunch.Shahzad, Tremlett or Bresnan then?
Honestly hope its not Bresnan that is way to negative a move IMO. He isn't threatening enough at test level. A 5th bowler (if pieman Watson is, anyone is) he could definatly be but not a 4th. I'd pick Shahzad. He offers something different (good speed, reverse swing and accurate) and i don't buy into the "Perth is amazingly bouncey" rhetoric thats flying around. Tremlett i'm still not 100% convinced on. On form is a world class performer but if he comes under tap i think he'd wilt.
