*Official* First Test at the Gabba

McGrath is gone. You may as well say that Bradman would've done better than North and Clarke in this test. Australian cricket needs to move on.
Yes, well I wasn't calling for his return. Just pointing out how poor our bowlers bowled in general. You don't have to be McGrath to get the ball around a batsman's off-stump.

Don't think there's anything to be added by spotting the name 'McGrath' in a post and automatically assuming it's something about wishing he was there either really.

This would be the most awesome outcome possible and would be such a crushing and demoralizing defeat for the English I'm not sure that they could come back from it.
lol 4 years ago i was still in school, i just couldnt go to sleep till we were 'safe' at Adelaide. I couldn't believe it. I stayed up all night just watching Warne humiliate us, it was embarassing.

Waiting at the bus stop falling asleep i was almost tempted to throw myself in front of traffic.

Don't think it can get worse than that

The fact that they were afraid of losing has probably been the reason the declaration could only be made as a symbolic gesture. Baring a freak collapse, they really could have declared a fair while back if they believed the middle order was shaky enough or backed their ability (stength) to win the contest.
After taking an absolute pumelling at Brisbane in 02 and 06, getting to Adelaide not behind is a victory in itself.

There's absolutely nothing for the bowlers here judging by the first couple of overs, and these English bowlers should be pretty fresh and fired up right now...

Fine state of affairs for a fifth day wicket...

Broads doing my head in already. Why around the wicket? katich looks vulnerable to a full ball angled accross him. And he's bowling too ****ing short

I just thought it was a bit of a moot point. McGrath would give any batsman in the world today nightmares. Constant comparison of the current Australian side to the one 4 years ago that was one of the greatest teams of all-time is not particularly helpful in assessing their true quality.

Damn I was hoping Aus might play this like an ODI match...pitch is definately good enough for it.

Ok, lets change the name 'McGrath' and replace it with 'anyone who could get the ball up and around off on a semi-regular basis'.

Speed Gun is defs weird this match. Either that, or everyone is bowling around 5kms/hr slower than usual.
