Edmondson's averaging 186 with the ball while going at 5.47rpo this season; has to be close to the axe, especially since the backup bowlers did a decent job against England.
Hope so. You'd imagine Putland would have been the one to miss out when George comes back but I'd guess its Edmonson. Guy's been arse all year save for one spell in a Ryobi Cup game.

In case people haven't seen it yet, highlights for the first 3 days of the Tas vs. NSW game have been uploaded on cricketnsw.com.au. Lots of footage of Copeland bowling too - he looks seriously impressive. Definately has some similiarities with McGrath imo.
If I hear about one more player being the new Glenn McGrath, I swear I will rampage through Leeds with a chainsaw, mercilessly butchering everything in sight.

Is that what you want?

Who said he is the "new Glenn Mcgrath"? 'Similarities' does not denote equivalency. I simply was refering to certain aspects of his style of bowling, notably his run-up, the lines he bowls, and his bowling mentality as well: "I suppose consistency and trying to swing the ball around and move it a little bit both ways. I have very simple and plain strategies but I suppose it's been successful for me so far".

It is stupid and premature to prounounce Copeland as equivalent to someone like Mcgrath talent-wise. It is completely reasonable to be excited by the results he is producing and his style of bowling.

 Just messing with you mate.
Yeh well whatever the case, I completely understand why you don't like it when new players are labelled as a reincarnation of a former great (a la Steve Smith the new Shane Warne) - I don't like it either, because it is usually completely unfounded and based on media hype.

Copeland looks very promising at this stage though (imo more promising that someone like e.g. Finn, who has got excellent results but hasn't actually looked that impressive). It's not just me either, his team mates are impressed aswell:

Difference is that whilst someone like Finn "appears" to have the tools, Copeland has all of that and ridiculously good results to go with it

Copeland's figures are the equivalent of scoring a number of tons on the trot

Perfect day at the MCG today. Victoria only looking to bat out the day, not doing a good job thus far. Johnson looks pretty good, perhaps bowling a touch too short. I guess Wade must have said something to him, as Johnson is giving him a few words after every delivery.

James Pattinson back playing grade cricket again this weekend. Good sign, nearly every young fast bowler in this country has broken down with injury after being involved with the Australian setup (Pattinson, Starc, Hazlewood).

Anyone else keen for tonights all-star game? It will be great to have some CW favourites like Copeland and Rimmington exposed to the wider audience.

Brad Hodge as captain is awesome too.

WTF:

"No one in the history of Australian cricket has done what Hauri has done.
A bloke (Doherty) over more than seven years of first-class cricket bowls at 50 and gets a start ahead of a guy who has done what no other spinner has in Australian cricket history."

That part was actually a Greg Matthews quote.
Oh so it is

Well, Matthews has always said some odd things. His bagging of Swann during/after Cardiff is funny in hindsight (although somewhat merited as Swann was all kinds of piss-poor there) - though not as funny as Rodney "he's not going to take another wicket" Hogg.
