ATM Oz's likely X1 includes:

1 batsman in form but injured (Clarke)

5 out of form batsmen (insert names at your leisure)

Haddin

1 spinner who is either out of form (Hauritz) or a massive punt (Doherty)

1 fast bowler who hasnt hit the cut portion this season (Johnson)

1 fast bowler who will run in all day but hasnt taken any wickets for a year (Siddle)

1 reliable fast bowler (Hilf)

Things are looking good
I reckon Bollinger will play ahead of Siddle as long as he pulls up okay after his game for NSW.

Haha I was going to suggest Cameron in for Harris, then I realised that was the NSW attack minus Clark. Even more reason to do it!

**** it.

Katich
Hughes
Clarke
Khawaja

Haha, yeah... lets drop Ponting the only guy capable of winning the Ashes on his own for some rooks!!
Surprised Katich and Clarke are in there, you see those guys too haven't scored many runs in their last 6-7 tests, so lets drop 'em too and bring in more green horns...

I reckon the squad for the Gabba should be:

Watson
Katich
Ponting
Clarke
Khawaja
Smith (used mainly as a batsmen)
Haddin
O'Keefe
Johnson
Copeland/Cameron
Bollinger

Unfortunately that leaves Hilf out, but Cameron and Copeland just look on fire at the moment. The batting would go all the way down to number 8 with Johnson, plus there is a good mix of spinning options with O'Keefe as the main spinner and Smith used as a bit of variety if required, and the pace attack has good variety as well (Johnson used in short bursts mainly as a partnership breaker, with Bollinger and Copeland/Cameron used as the spearhead of the attack. Watson also in the mix as well).

Seems strange that all you guys are calling for Cameron or Copeland yet the selectors don't see it.Never having seen them i am not able to say if they are any good but what are you lot seeing that they aren't?

If one or two of you were shouting it then it could be put down to favouritism but nearly all of you want at least one of them.Seems a strange one.Now either you are all bad judges or the selectors are cutting off their noses to spite their faces.

Copeland's only been on the scene for about a season and he came into the NSW team with basically no hype, but he's been awesome. Cameron's been around for years and is a genuinely awesome bowler but he's only played 12 games in about seven seasons. Even though he missed out a bit due to NSW have 1838134834 internationals, it's mainly a reflection of his injury record.

They aren't the sort of bowlers you pick unless you're desperate for those reasons, even though they're quite possibly better than what we've got.

What do you mean we're not wothy haha?

I think if the line-up was like the one I listed, Johnson should be in there because he offers something different to the bowling attack. You have Bollinger who is a bounce 'specialist', then you have Copeland/Cameron who can swing the ball and get good seam movement, and Watson who is excellent at swinging the ball in the right conditions. While Hilfenahaus is undoubtedly one of our better bowlers, he probably wouldn't add much to the team if Cameron or Copeland were there, and, as I said before, these guys are performing exceptionally at the moment. Either one of them could also present as somewhat of an x-factor to the English as well. Johnson could be a far more dangerous (and useful) bowler if he wasn't used as the spearhead. The extra dimension he adds to the attack is an ability to break partnerships when noone else seems to be able to (with perhaps the exception of Watson), and also he offers pace than none of the others can produce. The there is also his batting which can be very handy.

Actually watching Shield/Grade Cricket would be an advantage I have over an Australian Selector...

Anyone know why Henriques opened in the second dig for NSW today?

Has Katich's injury flared up?
