Really love Watson's bowling. Not only because he has developed his reverse swing, but also because of his deception. Looks like a medium pacer walking in but most of the time surprises the batsmen in pace. Can also bowl the bouncer.

Duss gets caught out half forward a bit early, and gets squared up a bit. But he's as good a player of spin as anyone in Shield cricket, and he tends to head down towards the bowler with his front foot, which gives him room to free his arms and hit through cover, and can take LBW out of the equation a bit.

Well he's got a wicket now.

Smith cannot bowl a variation to save his life. Doesn't get much spin either. Accuracy dreadful as well. Really just pathetic watching him bowl.

Jeez, for the judgements and criticisms you make on players, you'd wanna be a seriously good cricketer yourself, cause there are a lot of good cricketers who you write off at will as 'rubbish'.

Reckon it just comes down to who you do and don't like, and you rate them as 'awesome' or 'rubbish' accordingly.

Nah to be fair there is a method to his madness. I don't agree with him particularly often but it's not just based on who he likes. His admiration for Hughes does seem to be terribly inconsistent with everything else he posts though - he rates batsmen on aesthetics, dismisses poor techniques and even made a post once saying something like "scoring a debut hundred against one of the best teams in the world doesn't actually prove that much".

Cameron starting to reverse it and bowling gas. How old is he?
28 or so.

Someone to quote me with the broken record image, but I reckon he's the best bowler in Australia when he's fit, including the Test players. He's just fit extremely rarely.

For the record though it's not reverse; NSW took the new pill. Some brutal deliveries from him in the last couple of overs anyway!

McD seems to be having a swing at Clark here. Interesting to see how this goes.

EDIT: haha, it's like OD cricket - swing at any length balls outside off.

EDIT: PEWS's boy has another.

Loving all the comments regarding the current domestic games. But by the sounds of it not many of you have seen a Shield game in the past 3-4 years?

Andrew McDonald closing in on a century against the 'Test Class' bowling lineup. What a fantastic cricketer he is for Victoria, I hope he is never selected for Australia again. He gives the Bushrangers so much flexibility.

Looking forward to getting a first hand look at the SACAs out at AB Field next week.

Pissed that Ferguson won't be there.

Yep, as gooder cricketer as Ronald is, his days as an Aussie cricketer are pretty much over unless Watson becomes injury-prone again. He'd probably only ever make a 5 man attack batting 7 in the Test side, and evidently they've gone a different direction with OD cricket.

Always puzzled me to an extent, but thought that McDonald was a better fit than Hopes for one day cricket, and when McDonald was playing Tests, I thought Hopes would have been the better fit for that role. Ronald's game has really taken off since then, though; much better cricketer now than when he was playing for Australia IMO.

Siddle needs wickets in the match, btw - R Harris and Cameron fast closing in on him, if they haven't got him already. Saw Cameron bowling in a grade match earlier this summer and he cleaned up our boys, took 5-9 or something like that, speaking to them, he was a real handful, a class above Stuart Clark who was also playing that match.

Been years since I've been to a Shield game...been years since Qld were worth watching.

Not many young punks with the bat.

Last outstanding talent to come out of Qld with the bat was one A Symonds as a young punk.

Was watching their Ryobi game vs Tassie pretty closely the other day, the commentators weere commenting on it also, but technically they all looked pretty poor and didn't fancy getting right behind it.

Amen to that :p

I like Hughes because of his character. Yeah I may be biased slightly () towards him, but he is the reason why I got into cricket. It was just a fairy tale how he made his debut in SA.
