Is it actually an old post though?
Nah.

It's actually what I used to say when I was like 12. I knew jack**** back then but somehow picked good teams despite being biased towards players I liked. Not unlike irrotev in drafts.

My 2003 NZ side was something like:

Richardson
Sinclair
Fleming
Styris
Astle
Cairns
Oram
Hart
Tuffey
Bond
Mason

Hated McCullum, hated Marshall, hated Franklin, hated Martin and hated Butler.

****ing hockey is a stupid sport and has ruined him.
I know you are just kidding but on this topic....Glenn turner played hockey and credited it for helping his hand eye. I nearly took up the sport to help my cricket game. But decided that I should actually like the game to play it - plus the people who played it were dangerous with their sticks at my school.

Well Taylor was a bit of a gun in hockey but it is why he plays across leg.

I played hockey like it was cricket at times.

Needless to say it wasn't the best. Was gun playing the puk on the bounce though.

I mostly agree with Athlai. If McCullum was a better batsman he would have been caught behind or caught at slip. It was a wonderful ball. That said he did over stretch. 80% the delivery 20% McCullum's fault.
I was in my car. I blame Waddle for making it sound like it was soft.

Oh and Hockey is an amazing sport. Requires a lot of skill and speed. Fast game.

Ha, you can't blame his heave to leg on how he used to play hockey. It's possibly contributed to his bat speed when he plays that shot, but it's not like it forces him to play it.

Plenty of cricketers would have played hockey at some stage in their lives; to use an example from this match BJ Watling was a decent hockey player and I can't remember seeing him play that shot (possibly because he's usually out before he gets the chance )

BJ Twatling is hardly a shining example of the benefits of playing hockey to improve cricket.:p
I know, merely pointing out that Taylor's not the only cricketer who's played hockey.

To use another example, Jonty Rhodes played hockey for South Africa IIRC.
