Emm...because I said he hasn't won WCs or led a successful team elsewhere?

Also if he doesn't take 2-0 losses hard he shouldn't be captain. Whatever you want to say about the guy, he always gives it his all.
I'm sure he'll take it however a champion like him would take it.

Yeh bu D Huss is 33...

He probably won't average 45, but its gonna be hard to find another batsman who will...
Hughes averages mid 50s in tests already

A test career average of 45 for him would be seen as a major disappointment

Agreed.
Yeah I imagine he will be fairly devastated over this, regardless of his past success. You always know he gives 100, regardless of whether they were the right decisions

We don't need 100 guys averaging higher than him and being younger. He only takes 1 spot in the team. 1 will do.
These are basically the options:

-Jaques
-Rogers
-Hughes

All openers, and two out of three are old anyway.

-D Hussey

Old

-Khawaja
-Smith

Both are very inexperienced. Their averages could plummet after a few more games for all we know. However, I'd be happy to take a risk with M Hussey with one of them.

I reckon social's got you on that one. If we wanted old players at least pass the mantle onto someone who's got a great FC record. 31 averaging f-all vs 33 averaging ****loads. I know who I'm picking.

I sincerely hope Marcus North doesn't play in Melbourne. Just bet a friend that I'd wear a dress to the first day if he plays. And if he doesn't, my mate buys the drinks all day.

Na too much of a short term option. 1, 2 years max and he'll have to retire. Who know anyway with D Hussey, his form might drop anytime soon like his brothers.

I think he best option for the team would be to replace M Hussey ASAP with one of the young batsmen. Maybe Khawaja. I would keep North for now. A no.6 averaged 40ish is seriously not that bad...

Australia is gonna have to get used to having far fewer batsmen averaging 50's.

If Hussey D plays 2 years (as will probably be likely if he becomes a regular) then he'd have done well giving time to guys like Khawaja and Smith to mature a bit more. What more, he's less likely to tail off than North IMO, so saying "What if this happens..." is a bit irrelevant to my thinking.

Personally, I'd drop Katich to #6 as he is a solid player with a tight approach and we can have Watson and Hughes to open for years to come.

Woried about Sachin

The man is clearly losing his head in tight situations.

I mean he forgot to run away today!! What ever was he thinking?

Lmfao.. Not what you were saying after Sydney the last time India toured..

That ****ers getting put away for when India tour here next. Gold.
That was umpiring though. I don't think it's comparable. But I said right there that India losing so many wickets to Clarke was the downfall as well. Obviously you won't win too many games if you do stupid **** like that.

Agreed. With this team, India are going to get demolished in Australia when they tour next.

Yeh maybe, the real problems though will come though in about 2 years. Katich, M Hussey, Ponting, North, D Hussey will all have retired (or very near to it).

Once that happens the team might be something like:

Hughes
Watson
Clarke
Khawaja
Smith
White??
Paine
Hauritz/O'Keefe??
Johnson
Hilfenhaus
Bollinger

Hauritz has been disappointing, but I still think he is the best option for the fourth bowler going forward. Hussey and North are the bigger worries, although North played well in the 1st innings here.
I can't help but think that Siddle should be in for Hauritz.

North (since they refuse to drop him) and Clarke are as good as Hauritz as spinners. Siddle is more of a wicket-taking option.

And lost eight wickets in the last two sessions don't forget... Including three in the last over to a part timer..

You can take the view you do, and that's fine. Its one i tend to agree with. But it I'll-behoves anyone to post what SS has just now and ever bitch over an umpiring decision as a reason for a loss.

As SS said "What's this deserving in sport?"
OK, if the game is unfair, I don't think my statement would apply. Obviously. If Australia had played better and India had still won because they got a string of decisions in their favor by some magnificent idiocy, I would have said the same thing as I did after Sydney. That's not the same mate.

There's a difference between unfair and playing better on the day. Come on, you know that. You don't need to twist something to make it apply in cases where it clearly wasn't meant to.

Not really, 1 wicket the difference in the 1st Test. Were in it here until the final day. Using words like 'whitewash' make it sound like a flogging though it must be said.

Not sure why these guys were expected to at least draw one...thought Australia played quite well overall.
Yeah it wasn't humiliation, poor choice of words. I actually don't want to guess what might have been, but can't help but feel that only some of the Australians contributed to a stiff challenge, while some others were a let down. Michael Clarke especially.
