Haha I remember that incident actually!

Also he did clash with a few WI players.

Good point.
Apparently he's a really softly spoken gentle guy off-field.

Still think the Benn incident is way overblown. Benn walked straight into him FFS and you could tell that there was no malice at all from Johnson.

Didn't watch the whole day so I may be a little off in my summary but this kind of test match really highlights how important the spinning position is for us when we tour to places like India. Fast bowlers need a break and over rates need to be kept up while one end is kept reasonably tight. It'd probably help if more than one ground in Australia actually aided spin for more than a day.

Thought Hilfenhaus bowled fairly well. I expect him to really shine this summer especially since he's been moving the ball both ways and has a killer bouncer. Infact, even PG improved a little today although I'm not really expecting much from him yet.

Sachin amazing as usual. Even his annoying fans can't take away from the brilliant batmen and person he is.

It's like Hussey's first twelve months in the test team, except it's happened after 20 years in the game.
I guess Sachin now averages near 100 in this calender year (including this test). Don't remember Hussey averaging that much any time in his career.

1194 runs @ 99.50. Including a double ton against SL. Will be his 6th double ton if he gets it tomorrow.

Pratters wasn't often on the ball, but I remember in 07 when Sachin was going through a tough time and calls for his retirement were the loudest - he told me on MSN that Sachin was going to re-enter a new run accumulation phase in his career and just pile on the runs. Scarily accurate.

Why? Cos he should have been out LBW in the 70s or 80s?

Heaps of batsmen get lives. He has done very well this knock.
His footwork (or complete lack thereof) to the quicks suggests that he is doomed to failure on anything other than a low bouncing, slow paced track such as this

Any movement or bounce and he is a sitting duck IMO

Jono

Virat Kohli (c)
That's a different point.

I agree he has footwork issues. But I read your post as if the innings wasn't good.

Anyway time will tell. He is very talented though.

Cant believe that North didnt bowl even a single over

We all know that he isnt one of the best 6 batsmen in Oz but he does add something as a backup offie so an argument can be made for his inclusion in a touring squad to somewhere like India

But fact that he is apparently being picked solely as a batsman makes his retention even more baffling

Really? He's had a good series for mine.

Will definitley play vs. NZ
Averages 44 and never looks like taking a wicket. Chawla has done enough to get a recall. Has improved hi batting so much and would add depth to the batting. Would pick him even without his batting ability, but still, a point to consider.

Never judge a youngster solely by his test stats. Ojha is a an amazing prospect in all forms of the game. The best spinner in India atm other than Harbhajan, and a must in the playing XI in any home series for the time being. If one thinks that he's bowling 'pies made of crap', he knows little about left arm spin bowling.

And btw (though that point is irrelevant), he has been very unlucky in this series. Had to suffer from quite a few missed catches in his bowling, and has bowled better than India's best spinner for the most part of the series.

Has no variations and always bowls the same ball. Easy pickings for set batsmen. Won't have a good test career. If he does, I will eat my own dick - live on youtube.

Harbhajan has ranged between mediocre to terrible in this series, I really wouldn't pick on Ojha while he's still in the team. Zaheer has been fantastic with the old ball and fairly ordinary with the new one. We depend too heavily on our batsmen, if Tendulkar had failed in this innings (and he's due a failure or two anytime now) we would be struggling to save this Test right now. But I guess that's no surprise to anyone.

Reckon Ohja has been pretty good tbh

Needs a bit more variation but that'll come with experience/confidence

Same old story,India bat well and the opposition look unable to get wickets.India to win after bowling the Aussies out cheaply like they did last week.
