Variation. It's often something bowlers do just for a ball every so often when the pitch is a bit up and down - if it hits the flush part of the ball it can skid on and if it hits the seam across it can lift.
Also a new thing used to try and scuff the ball up as quickly as possible for reverse swing, and start to determine a side to make the shiny side.

Gets used in England a bit too when there is more swing after the lacquer has come off the ball.

Hope Laxman is alright for tomorrow.
Looking like a Aussie win though but it is a test match so you never know.

I don't think Tendulkar will be able to do it to be honest. There are only so many times he can hit centuries, and he isn't the greatest at finishing matches either.

Chennai test one of his best... Mixing Laxman here........ He will just bother Australia....

Well that duck brought Raina back down to earth. Disappointing so far from India. I'd still say we're in with a shot to win this but definitely think Australia are favourites to take this out. All really depends on Tendulkar and Dhoni tomorrow as well as Laxman's fitness.

It's been a great game of test cricket so far with some really good, hard, competitive cricket. Hope Zaheer can pitch in with a 20 odd and that India can see off a good part of the morning without losing a wicket.

Whatever happens, I'm ****ing thrilled with our fast bowlers. They've been magnificent IMO, all things considered.

Hesitated from sayin' it because a guy who mentioned it got pwned, but a spinner who averages 50 as a bowler in cricket, regardless of whether he took an 8-fer and looks a little like Warne, still averages 50.

In any way should Steve Smith be anywhere near the Aus Test setup atm, IMO. Atleast as an allrounder/bowler.

Even though this is fairly shattering, ****ing love test cricket. India vs. Australia is such quality.
This.

Respect to Australia for how they played in that mini-session. So brutal at exposing technical flaws in opposition.
