Why was he bowling cross seam?
Variation. It's often something bowlers do just for a ball every so often when the pitch is a bit up and down - if it hits the flush part of the ball it can skid on and if it hits the seam across it can lift.

Hmmm, never knew about the skidding. Might try it myself :laugh: (at the furious pace of 90kmph)

Personally, not that pleased to see the mistakes. Would just rather the game was settled on the basis of the performances of players...rather than umpiring decisions.
