I agree with Scaly that India are more likely to win at this stage. If we get a chance to declare I don't think it will be until after an hours play on day 5. That would mean about 73 overs to force a result.

Hopefully this time tomorrow well be in a position to think about declaring!

Yeah, Aussie win still the least likely outcome, but Indian victory going to require something special from here.

Raina the only cricketer to score 100's in all 3 formats this means Gayle is not a cricketer.Seriously this dire commentary team needs to be shot.

I firmly believed that it could not get worse than Nein but wow they are giving them a hell of a run for their money

Disagree. Both outcomes still very much possible. India favourites, though.

Is Laxmans career over if something like this can flare up any time? Is it too risky to select him?
IMHO,

Dunno. He's averaged over 80 in the past 12 months and has just come off an epic match-winning Innings in Sri Lanka. He definitely will get a free run through the remaining six tests this year and if it keeps flaring up, He will have to go. However, If it flares up only extremely rarely, It's worth the risk.

I was trying to figure that out myself, maybe he means this calendar year.

Clarke and Ponting have pretty chronic back problems, it hasn't really slowed them

Clarke's is chronic but not so bad as to have affected him in tests. Missed a bucket of ODIs but - I mean, so? (inb4 pasag says that's a positive).

Sure they didn't say only Indian cricketer ?
I heard them saying that yesterday.

Gavaskar was giving us how Indian batsman have so and so many runs combined compared to aussie batsman and same thing with bowling...... a whole lot of useless stats.

Seeking to clear air over the altercation Zaheer Khan had with Ricky Ponting, India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh said the issue was a misunderstanding on the part of Australia's captain.

Harbhajan said Zaheer's remarks were not directed at Ponting; the pacer was just talking with teammate VVS Laxman.

"I was not there when the incident happened. But a teammate told me that Zaheer was telling Laxman 'you are Usain Bolt'. Ponting thought it was directed at him and came back asking what did he exactly say," Harbhajan told the official match broadcaster before the start of the second day's play in the first Test in Mohali on Saturday.

The exchange of words came after Ponting was run-out on Day 1 of the Test.

Shane Watson pushed the fourth ball of the 42nd over towards mid-wicket and called Ponting, who was batting on 71, for a quick single. Before the skipper could make his ground, Suresh Raina's throw hit the stumps.

Ponting was walking back towards the pavilion and turned back after hearing Zaheer's comments.

With the Indian players gathered in celebration of the wicket, Ponting walked back pointing the bat at them before umpire Billy Bowden intervened.

Harbhajan, who was involved in the infamous 'monkeygate' scandal with Andrew Symonds, said he was 'lucky' not being around when the incident happened.

"I was having a drink at the other side. I only came to know about it later. But these things happen in cricket, but I believe, for both teams, playing good cricket is priority," he said.

I don't get it. Why would Ponting be offended by being called Usain Bolt?
