Go to Taunton tomorrow to watch Somerset vs Pakistan?
Somerset will probably have an average-ish side out, but if all goes well I get to see Trescothick, Kartik and a few others.
Pakistan are without Amir and Asif but could still field Afridi, Gul and then some batting power in Umar Akmal and others.
I'd also get to see how gash Ajmal looks live.

I've never been to see a live professional game before, so this would be a first.
It'd only cost me ~£45 for ticket and travel as well.

Will go with whatever the first few people in this thread decide. I'd be alone ftr

45 quid for a ticket! ****. That said, sport in the flesh is awesome. You don't get the camera angles or analysis but you get a better feel for just how quick these guys are, even the ones who bowl 130Km/h. Still remember my first live match; thought I was a pretty quick bowler until I saw Phil Simmons bowl in the flesh and he was faster.....

I'll never complain about the prices at Adelaide Oval again too.

Ticket and 150-mile return train journey, I believe...

Yes, several times. The ground is about 10-15 minutes' walk from the station, and shouldn't be difficult to find if you have a sense of direction and print out a map. It is pretty simple down a main road, past the highest concentration of takeaways in the UK per shop front, past Morrisons and over the river. Failing that you just keep asking locals.

I'd be more concerned about the train being late - not that late admission will be a problem.

See, I could save myself a tenner and miss about an hours worth of play. The train arriving at 11:24, but as you said if the train's late I'm stuffed and I'd want a whole days worth.
If Pakistan bat first it could all be over by the time I got there otherwise.

Will probably get the 10:25 train, if I miss 10 minutes of play it's doable.
10:45 start, full days play, 6:00-30 finish? ish?

Can't believe you've never seen a live pro game before!!?!

Seriously though, go, you won't regret it. It's pretty amazing live, as Corey said, it's unreal how fast the bowlers look in real life. Worst that will happen is that it's a crap game, and even then it's just a really awesome experience seeing it live.

Surely you'd just get a saver return or whatever it's called now - seeing as you can't get an advance discount at a day's notice. Just wander back to the station and get on the next one!

Not since I was about six.

If I get to the station and it's not the same price as online, I'll weep and forever curse you Pickup.

It will be the same price. Either go to the counter or use a FastTicket machine. It will be a piece of piss.
